Don't want to bust your balls, though, for May, the load was 85.3% for ONT

I would like to find the difference between EVA and China Airlines in their service and AC. I fly on EVA PE a lot and how does the China Airlines one compare to EVA?
thank you

It depends on what route you are flying.

Premium Economy on China Airlines is hard to beat on A350-900 as the layout is 2-3-2 in a very small cabin. It's quite exclusive itself. The only downside is you will have to travel down to Economy cabin (but that also means no one will travel into PE cabin) for lavatory as the ones in the front are for Business Class. I am unsure if a cheap North Face amenity bag will swing you so I won't mention that.

If we are talking about 77W then I don't find much differences between the two. There are 4 lavatories between the two cabins and I would not want to seat anywhere on that last row (37).

Thank youCoolfish. I am mostly interested in the seating and how the seats are. I am a big guy and hence do not like to be squeezed into a seat. So the pitch and the width is important for me. I fly from YYZ to BKK and MNL most often. I feel the same in the BR one too. EC passengers do come into the PE section for the lavatory. How are the fares and inflight services compared to EVA. I am doing a trip on EVA in September and the next one is in December so may look into it. At this time it has to have a great positive difference for me to switch from EVA as I would get Gold hopefully before the end of this year.

If you are based in YYZ then I would not make the detour on CI, just fly BR. The seats are definitely better on the 359 via YVR compared to BR, but then you will need to endure a domestic leg from YVR-YYZ which I feel is not worth it as it's not a short flight. Fare wise I think they are competitive, but BR is now cheaper in many destinations as they have more capacities to sell. Inflight services to be honest I find CI a tad better, but hardware BR tops (Rimowa Amenity, Pajamas, sleeping duvets etc). Food wise is really based on personal preferences but CI does now have a soup in comparison to what BR slashed.

Thank you very much Coolfish. I am actually not out of YYZ but the Maritimes and do need a layover in YYZ on my arrival as BR is so late I do not have a same day connection out of YYZ.

I flew PE Just 3 weeks ago on TPE-BNE a350 and they were still issuing the older amenity boxes. Old stock still? I assume the soup is the business class one. As I don't remember getting one in PE. Yes the small size of the cabin is nice. Also 1 or 2 of the business class toilets are allowed to be used by PE these days. Well from personal experience.

Updated to July.

Premium Economy demand at ONT has exceeded expectation to due lack of available seats. If you want to secure an acceptable Premium Economy fare, you need to book almost 6 months ahead.

We will see how CI 6/5 returning to scene end of October make any impact on EVA's loading.

Impressive to hear! No wonder they're switching back to the 77W since in my personal opinion I thought the A350 was more than enough for ONT. though I was mistaken...good problem for them to have. 🙂

I hope with the reintroduction of CI5/CI6 it doesn't syphon off some of those numbers from ONT. Especially CI24.

Impressive. And I was getting upset how quickly PE was selling out more than 2 months before my departure dates to Europe. It is good to see CI do well for once as hopefully it can be encouraging for it to make some more expansion of routes.

This time last year most of us were talking how long it would take CI to cut ONT, but look now. Glad to see their experiment worked after their initial misfire.

CI to resume TPE-LAX flights 6/5 starting 10/28, operating 3 weekly.
Overall loading to the US (except JFK) seems to drop by quite a bit, not sure what happened.

It’s been quiet strange. I have 3 flights coming up (next week, thanksgiving, Chinese New Year). SFO loading seems to be quiet light at least in business. Usually it’s about 80% full previous year. But this year, it’s like 40% full
