go to syd via hkg using cx should save you money.
europe to hk to syd on cx. then you only pay yq on jnb mad. if u have to do dxb, you will need to pay yq to dxb as well. cx is now charging a small yq for trips starting outside of hkg but it is still small. I start from India so planning Africa & europe in first trip - then back home (through dubai) Australia & Asia - 2nd trip - again back home, then the long one of North & south america through tokyo & coming back, that is the plan at least, we from south Asia do not have the benefit of visa free travel to most places hence need to break the travel to manage the visas for each of the countries :(:( |

I have spend 3 long calls with the Qatar Airways helpdesk to get a quote/offer on the OneWorld Trip Explorer ticket. Both the customer service agent and I came to the same conclusion about this ticket:
it is practically useless for European travellers. From Europe, it is pretty popular to travel to Australia/NZ and Southeast Asia. At first, OneWorld Trip Explorer seems perfect because you will do Europe + Middle East + Australia + Southeast Asia and back. Unfortunately, you are required to stop in SOUTH Africa. Northern Africa is suddenly considered Europe. A stopover on the southern hemisphere, in South Africa, when you want to travel to Australia/Southeast Asia makes absolutely no sense. It will take a lot of time and will be an exhausting trip. Also, a vacation/travelling to South Africa is usually a stand alone trip for Europeans, definitely not combined with countries on the other side of a massive ocean. Trip Explorer can be great, but not for Europeans unfortunately :( Now Kilroy has offered us the following (this is not an Explorer ticket). For a consumer, it is impossible to search on an airlines website or Google Flights or Kayak for this trip, even just the first 5 will lead to no results. How do I know whether this price is competitive? Kilroy's offer: For €2000pp (2 persons): AMS>DPS (Bali, via DXB) DPS>DRW (Darwin, Australia) DRW>CNS (Cairns, Australia) MEL>CHC (Christchurch, New Zealand) AKL>SYD (New Zealand back to Australia just to be able to go to MNL) SYD>MNL (to Manila) BKK>AMS (via DXB) The gaps or missing segments will either be done over land or via cheap airlines like AirAsia. I believe DPS>DRW should not be part of this itinerary because AirAsia is just €30pp for that route, but the lady added it anyway. |

Idiot question from me.
I keep using the online tool to price 'sample' DONE4s, which is extremely annoying have to select phantom flights just to obtain a price. Am I right in thinking that a DONE4 is priced per carrier, per country, and if I subscribe to Expert Flyer, I'd be able to view these without playing around with the tool? |

Each oneworld carrier is supposed to publish the same fares at the same price. Usually that is the case. You are correct that EF shows these base fares, but taxes, fees and surcharges are not included. If you wish I can post an example. |

The fares vary by origin city. Usually each city in the country has the same fare though.

When the MPM fares were a hot topic I was unable to book until about 24 hours after they were pulled. I've been to Mozambique before and swore I'd never set foot there again, but I'd make an exception for a decent saving, which, IIRC, no longer exists. As I'd need to break the trip in the middle with an embedded segment to LHR, the cost of this might render a TYO start better value. Basically, it's complicated, and a fares table would help greatly, even if there's some variation with taxes. |

In reality a fares tariff with just one publisher is easier to read. [Note though that AA does not participate in the -WC3 fares.] Code:

I noticed you mentioned a oneworld 'Trip Explorer' which I'm guessing is the Circle Trip Explorer fare: https://www.oneworld.com/flights/mul...-trip-explorer - this does require visiting Africa (and is a different product from the oneworld Explorer round-the-world fare that most people discuss here). It doesn't seem like that's what you need, although I'm sure it's useful to someone. Have you considered the Circle Asia & South West Pacific fare: https://www.oneworld.com/flights/mul...h-west-pacific or the Visit Australia & New Zealand fare: https://www.oneworld.com/flights/sin...ia-new-zealand ? You'd still need to arrange flights from Europe to Asia/SW Pacific on oneworld but once you're there, you can pick up the Circle or Visit fare and move around. |

Am I the only one here who doesn't understand this post at all? For example, xONEx does not require a visit to Africa going from Europe to Australia. What am I missing?

Been trying to book with multiple airlines a DONE4 ex-CAI with DOH as the final destination and all of them have been unable to make DOH the final destination. Apparently their booking system is forcing the last segment to head towards CAI.
From my understanding of the rules, one can start and end a trip anywhere in the M.E. My two questions are: Has anyone ever faced this issue when booking with an airline? Is CAI considered part of the M.E.? (When creating the same itinerary on the OW tool I haven't faced any difficulties) (Tried with both QF and QR) Thank you! |
Hi! I am new to this forum.
I have gained enough mileage (150k+ miles) on Asia miles and I am excited to do a RTW trip. I have been looking at OneWorld and the Multiple Carrier Award says I can only make a maximum of 5 (?) stopovers. That is quite fewer than expected. Can I use my miles to pay for routes in OneWorld Global Explorer? Any insights are welcome. |
