Well, they wouldn't run afoul of the 2 stopovers rule. I haven't checked the entire routing but looks okay at first glance. There is no special limitation on LHR stopovers.

Many thanks for your comments - much appreciated.

Hi all, does the current version of the Oneworld online booking tool still ticket to the airline that operates the first sector (like previous versions)? First sector is CAI-AMM on RJ.

I find it interesting that I priced a DONE5 itinerary and it quoted me in $AUD. Yes, I'm based in Australia, but I was not logged in and approached the Oneworld site from no external links. Wondering if it has assigned QF by default as my ticketing airline.

Thx in advance.

RJ has never been able to ticket an xonex under the tool. AA was supposed to ticket for an xonex with RJ as the first segment but the tool always seemed to fail at this stage.

It's hard to say what the tool is doing now since it doesn't seem that anyone can get it to work.

As per the name, "D"ONE5 they are booked into D class...

DOH....... Thank you.

I have looked but can't find the answer - does the PER-LHR QF9 count as one or two segments (I think I may have read its two despite being one flight !!)

Cynicor Jun 14, 2023 6:34 am

I can't see why it would be 2? It's a non stop direct flight. You thinking QF1, which has the SIN tech stop?

petez Jun 14, 2023 6:41 am

Thanks but it was specifically QF9, the non-stop. I just thought there was a rule that classed it as two segments for some reason - can't seem to find a definitive answer

I also priced a DONE5 from CAI and it also quoted in $AUD and I was in the USA. I will not use QF for RTW tickets. There is a OW thread concerning problems with QF RTW ticket changes,

It counts as one of the allowed 16 segments in a Oneworld itinerary,
BUT is also counts as "touching" Asia, and so increases the continent count by one.
The relevant rule is:
"Travel between South West Pacific and Europe/Middle East on a single flight number/or by surface eg LON-SYD/MEL/PER vv, DOH-ADL/AKL/CBR/MEL/PER/SYD vv, is considered travelling via Asia. Continents South West Pacific, Asia and Europe/Middle East must each be counted."

I think I read somewhere (can't find it now) that QF does the ticketing for RJ.

BA codeshare on AA booking?

I'm booking a DONE4 with the AA desk. I wanted to use BA codeshare for a couple of flights on AA metal -- this would generate higher Avios for a BA exec card holder, and also help my wife to reach status (which requires paid BA tickets).

AA says this is not allowed and I must book using AA flight number for AA metal. Is that consistent with what others have found?

It's not a rule but AA prefers to book their own flight code. They capture more of the revenue that way.

The Avios earnt for BA and AA numbered flights are now almost the same. In D class, it's 250%, and the only difference is the minimum earnt on shorter flights (500 on AA, 1250 on BA). I can't imagine it's worth fighting over.

You only need 4 BA operated/marketed sectors (or IB operated) in the membership year.

AA rtw desk traditionally has not been cooperative when trying to book other airline codeshares of AA flights.

Further, some BA codeshares have only been bookable when combined with a BA marketed transatlantic flight.

My first flight was AT (Royal Air Morroc) from CAI-CMN. It also came back in $AUD , so I guess RJ and AT both default to QF for ticketing ?

OK, I'll give up on that one.

AA are also refusing to book a QR metal flight DOH-LHR with a BA flight number -- they say it has to be booked as QR -- what do you think about that? Will HUACA get a different answer or is this policy too?
