None is this is necessary anymore. Just call up BA in South Africa on +27 10 344 0130, option 4, and give them your routing. They are very quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. Just a short time ago I bought an ex-MPM DONE5 from them, with the first segment on QR, using a non-Moambique credit card without any problems or complications. It's all very simple and direct. You should now be able to buy any rtw, starting anywhere, quoted in any currency, directly from any oneworld carrier anywhere with conversion to the currency of the location where you are buying the ticket at the bank interchange rate. No market restrictions! You could even use the AA rtw desk in the USA.

Well that all sounds very easy. I'll give it a shot.

Just book with AA RTW desk as I did for an ex-MPM AONE4 this past Friday. The rule change discussed over the past week in this thread, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...-sheet-24.html, means no more having to jump through hoops.

Or the AA RTW desk as I mentioned in the other thread. No more jumping through hoops and it is so much nicer working with agents whose expertise is RTW tickets.

I booked ex-MPM with AA RTW desk last Friday, no problems. New rules state:
When travel originates in a country for which a specific local currency fares is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the bank selling rate.

I wonder...
If I phone the AA RTW desk from Australia, can I then pay in Australian dollars?

Thanks, aaupgrade. I'm still not sure where to go with my earned redeemable miles >75K (lots to ponder), but I'm definitely booking another *ONE* from "north of Durban". My dilemma is whether to insert one of those 4K Etihad xMPM first class round trips in between ending this one in CPT and starting the new one. That would be quite an experience. And an incentive (one of the few left) to achieve EXP this year: I can redeposit my award miles for free!! Like, yeah, that really makes a dent in $4000, lol.
Incidentally, I should make LTPLT too, this trip. I think about 13K miles to go. Probably after the devaluations, the only value is sapphire lounge access abroad. My last flight DFW-SFO, AA159 Monday morning, had 50 names on the upgrade list.

What are the current operating hours ? Last time I called a few years ago, it was 7am to 6 pm and shorter hours on Sat/Sun.

Trying to put a DONE4 together now very quickly, as time is short.

The QR DOH-MPM arrives at 1340 and the return leaves at 1500. Anyone done this at MPM? Is it doable? Do you have to enter the country?

FWIW, I called the Mozambique embassy here in Washington DC and they said I needed a visa to transit which implies I need to enter the country. As such, for US folks at 160 USD for the visa, I'm planning an overnight stay. Wish the Visa was for a year, but it's not. The longest they have is multiple entry visa for 180 days.

I have no actual experience yet, so if anyone else does, I'd be interested in more info.

I Googled for more info but could not find anything of substance. I did find complaints about the price and varying anecdotes about visa upon arrival, which their web site says "VISA CAN NO LONGER BE ISSUED UPON ARRIVAL AT ANY OF MOZAMBIQUE'S ENTRANCE POINTS".

Mozambique Visa Info

Of course in your case, and in theory, they'll put you back on the flight you arrived on; but I don't know if I'd count on that.

The problem being that in the absence of a visa the airline taking you to MPM would most likely not allow you to board, even though you could show that you had a valid ticket for the return flight so they would not be out of pocket when your entry was declined.

Does anyone know the base fare for a DONE4 ex - that city north of Durban with the Portuguese influence? I have tried using the oneworld tool, and it allows me to choose the direct QR flight to DOH as a starter flight, but I am assuming that you still cannot get a quote with QR being the first carrier?? If that is the case - does anyone have the base fare? Thanks for any assistance.

You can probably get the quote, with all charges, from the site, but you can't actually buy the ticket. The base fare is USD 2449.43; the total cost will be around USD 3,000.
