I suggested that might be the explanation, but a $300 increase?

yes. some went up significantly, esp long haul.
one example is JAL: https://loyaltylobby.com/2026/04/21/...om-may-1-2026/

At the time of booking, each open segment was for a specific airline between two airports, which is supposed to allow accurate tax and airline overcharge calculation.

I called to move the last two flights (both on QR) to be one day earlier, and they quoted me $300 ad/col per passenger. That didn't seem right, so I declined and will try again. Is there any way that $300 can be correct? Massive new airline overcharges because of soaring fuel prices?
I tried again, changing 5 flights instead of just two (but including the same two) and this time they said $284. This time they confirmed that it was YQ, likely on the long QR AKL-DOH flight. (Probably the $16 drop is due to currency fluctuations.)

Isn't it that if YQ is recalculated (IE route change not just date changes) then YQ on the full remaining itinerary is recalculated (IE all segments, not just those that were changed) ? So the culprit may be elsewhere or spread out.

Anyone know of any threads discussing how much YQ has been rising per airline? With QR atar majority filling up in Qatar where they will be have a huge excess of jet fuel, you would hope they are back of the pack for yq rises.

I have a question about D class availability on British Airways. I ask in this forum because it is relevant to oneworld Explorer fares. I am trying to book a DONE itinerary 11 months out. Beginning on March 18 2027 and continuing on to the end of the 355 day booking window there is no D class inventory on intra-Europe flights (using Expertflyer). I have looked at several LHR-XXX city pairs. For example:
BA423 AGP-LHR 03/20/27 12:50 PM-2:55PM J9C9D0R0I0Y9B9H0K0M0L0V0N0O0Q0S0G0
BA546 LHR-FCO 04/05/27 6:40AM-10:15AM J9C9D0R0I0Y9B9H0K0M0L0V0N0O0Q0S0G0

Same pattern for AMS, CPH, CDG, etc. In the past I have been able to book a DONE that includes BA flights more than 10 months out. Is this something new? Is there a work around (other than "placesaver" dates)?

"D" class availability on Expert Flyer does not necessarily correlate to availability for RTW "D" fares.

They are separate fare buckets. You can't see the latter.

BA RevMan has been known to block cheaper fare buckets when booking so long in advance. Just use placeholder dates and then make date changes for free a few months later.

Since you're seeing this for bog standard LHR-xxx flights too, this does not seem to be a POC availability problem or the rumoured RTW specific fare type availability restriction.

In my case, I only shifted five flights by one day. No route change. I don't know if AA would recalculate the YQ on the changed flights, but JL certainly did.

Using EF, set the alliance control to oneworld and see if there is 'D' inventory when booking as a codeshare. If not, then you may be able to have the flight in there as a waitlist, if the waitlist is open. Otherwise, you'll have to book as an open-dated segment.

I've never seen 'D' inventory in a DONEx be greater than 'D' inventory as a standalone.

I am having fun with Qantas - again. Another 45 minutes so far. I’m wondering whether the issue (the flight having been booked, payment taken and cancelled...) might be that my flight from Vancouver to Portland on Alaska Airlines (operated by Horizon Air) isn’t included in the One World Explorer network, even though it has an Alaska flight number.

Thanks to anyone who might know.

That's incorrect. Horizon Air is an affiliated airline and explicitly allowed in the fare rules:

travel permitted on the following affiliated airlines:

ALASKA AIRLINES: Horizon Air, SkyWest Airlines

I'm afraid this is just yet another example of how much QF sucks at these tickets.

maybe we need a giant banner across the top of this forum - Don't Book with QF.
Even then...

Have they told you what the (perceived) issue is?. Making assumptions-guess on the possible issue is not helpful.
Is this a new ticket in the process of being issued? Or an existing ticket. Full details matter - help.

The issue is that you're using Qantas - again.
