I would love to see SYD, that would be thrilling, but I think it's a pipe dream... I bet KIX. Sigh.

NW operated SEA-HKG n/s in the '90s, dropped it around 1998 I believe. Do not know if it was underperforming or they needed the 747-200 elsewhere.

King5 speculates Asia, probably China

http://www.king5.com/business/storie....dae6c867.html

Based on this speculation, it will be Asia, most likely China.

Hmmmmm

are there currently and 744's operating out of SEA for any airline? I don't really recall seeing a 744 in SEA anytime in recent memory. Maybe a long time ago..more than 3 years ago?

anyways..i really think that it's going to be HKG Hope it is because I have relatives over there and a non-stop would be fabulous instead of having to spend an extra 4 hrs going through NRT or any other place.

Can NW use 5th freedom to do a SEA-KIX-china or SEA-NGO-china bypassing NRT and slot limits perhaps using some of their soon to be dormant frieghter (using belly space for some cargo and passengers on main deck) authorities out of china to Japan and onward to Sea, or, would they need seperate and new authority similar to a Conus - China nonstop?

I don't know..but last time i saw the KAL flight it was definitely a 777. maybe they switch off. But for sure you don't see 744's in SEA often.

still hope it's not a lame route like KIX!!

BA and EVA Air uses 744 to SEA. For BA, they have up to two flights (one on 744, another on 777), and EVA has 744 or 777 which varies on date.

As for NW's flight, back on topic, I think it's 99% likely that it will be utilizing a 330-200 series. (although I'm hoping for that 1% to see 747's return to SEA )

I don't think they're about to convert 747-200F frames to passenger service.

It is sooooo obvious, the future is here

First new route announced Post Merger? In honor of DL and the DL Philosophy, it can only be:

SEA to ATL on a CRJ-200.

NW doesn't operated of 747-200 anymore. Because they has already retired them from few years ago. I know its has already converted to freighter.

NW still operates 2 747-200's. They are used for charter service, and sometimes subbed on other flights. They have been seen operating HNL-MSP and AMS-MSP from time to time.

Ah, ok! I see it. I saw 742 were there at PHX from 2 months ago during baseball charter for PHX-PEK. I was at work that day when I went down there into the concourse. It's absolutely very huge of jumbo jet. It was during spring training game both team San Diego Padres & LA Dodgers went to China for several days. I remember that I read the article published from EPSN few months ago. What is stories about sports charter from PHX-PEK.

I think it's either
SEA-SYD
SEA-HKG
SEA-MNL

I don't think you'd get the Governor out for a SEA-NRT-xxx flight so I'm going with a destination that's not currently served out of SEA. The only problem with SYD is that HA introduced one-stop service to SYD (HA23 SEA-HNL-SYD) so it's not technically a "new" route unless NW does it non-stop.

The Guv is running for re-election next year, and will do anything to get press coverage. I'd like it to be SYD, but my wager of 2 drinks after 6PM at the SEA WC is KIX. 2nd choice is HKG. Can't see any kind of real market to MNL

Nice to know that the 742 is still out there. Checked flightaware though and there hasn't been a 742 on the HNL-MSP-HNL route as far back as FA goes (Jan 8th). Wonder if it'll be subbed anytime soon. Would be nice to ride on.
