--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA - News): What:
Northwest Airlines' officials along with Governor Christine Gregoire and business and tourism leaders from Washington State will gather at the Port of Seattle Headquarters to announce a new nonstop international route.

Could it be CDG as a backturn on one of the A330s used TPAC? Maybe assume the route from AF to balance a new JV equation? Or maybe a resumption of SEA-KIX?

it's probably none of those. I think the new route is to Lille, France.

possibly...SEA would then be connected to the major euro hubs via skyteam.

? SEA isn't that strong a ST hub and FRA definitely isn't.

my bet would be SEA-PEK... and if so, be ready to book those WBC awards for the Olympics when the flight opens!

That's one guess that's an impossibility, since NW didn't win (nor even apply for) SEA-PEK authority or frequencies last year. Can't be mainland China.

I know nothing

But SYD makes a lot of sense to me. It would obviously require 747s, but might make sense in advance of 787 service (1 744 for now from SEA, to be replaced by 2010 with 787s from SEA and MSP).

The timing also points to a destination with higher winter demand. It has to be too late to be announcing anything that will start this summer, right?
