Cant check in second passenger on confirmation code

While doing on line check in

The second passsenger name did not even appear.

Missing passenger on reservation when checking in.

Turns out NWA has assigned a unique confirmation code to each passenger,
without evidently informing anyone.

Possibly this happened when NWA redid the itinerary after booking.

We got the second unique confirmation code over the phone from NWA on the nwa.com help line.

Trying to burn my miles and for the last hour looking
for award flights on the Japan site. Was looking for
SIN-DTW-FRA-LAS-SIN. The site just cycled thru the
itinerary and let me pick flights, yet never came up
with the final flight details or mileage needed. Just
started over and let me pick first leg, second leg etc.
It took me a while but then I noticed that each and
every time different flights would pop up. While for
example the first try would show DTW-FRA only via
AMS, the next time it would display the non-stop
DTW-FRA flight. Then it would show LAS-NRT via
PDX, the next cycle would display the CO flight via
IAH. Makes no sense and never could finish my research.
Probably would still cycle through.

If you got a second unique confirmation code, you need to check in separately. Did you call to "split" the reservation for upgrade purposes? Or something similar? If so, a new confirmation code is pretty common practice. The agent should have given you the code when you redid the itinerary, but I wouldn't consider this an nwa.com problem.

Went to book some possible "burn your miles" trips later this year. Website showed some availability for Saver Biz ex Sin. Go through the whole process and it pukes when you select the whole itinerary. Called up the elite line and they say no Biz rewards for within a month of the October date I selected.

Very sad!

In doing more reward searches Ex-Sin, I saw something I've never seen before. SIN-CDG-LAX on AF, Perksaver coach 30k. It wouldn't book, but it did catch my eye.

I also was looking for some ex-SIN flights to the U.S. and if offered me a
return from IAH to SIN via CDG for 30K. When I tried to book it the "getting
very old by now" phrase came up that there is a problem booking this itinerary, it is not available now and I need to call NW. So, that was it. And
sorry to say, not the first time that happened.

Are they going to fix this $#%ing search engine!?!? I never had any real problems with the old search engine but this one I have trouble getting to come up with flights I know are they with availability!

Searched round-trip/price/business/any_fare_class both SUX-NRT and SUX-AMS for a variety of dates and I get back this message: "No Northwest Airlines or codeshare partner flights were found that matched your request. There may be limited service to or from these cities. Try modifying your search options including a change to your cabin class, dates of travel or city pairs. Check our service destinations and routes or search for alternatives on orbitz.com."

If I search coach, it finds the correct connecting flights. If I do multi-segment/business SUX-MSP-AMS-MSP-SUX it also finds the correct flights showing Y for the SUX-MSP segments and J/C/Z for MSP-AMS segments.

Hey, here's a small improvement that made a difference today. When you pull up a specific reservation, it now shows the number of day until departure. And this appears to have been implemented last night. For example, my next reservation now says:

The following flights are confirmed: 6 days until departure

This should be helpful, in regards to monitoring EUA, and how long until seats are going to be selectable.

And I have a flight that now shows:

The following flights are confirmed: 90 days until departure

I selected my seats today, and I was unable to select my seats yesterday (91 days out).

Kinda cool. Not earth-shaking, yet defintely nice that minor changes continue.

New Devaluation of Worldperks miles

I tried to book PVG-MNL-HKG on nwa.com for award travel. In course of the booking I saw PerkPass availability for Economy PVG-MNL for 20000 miles one way, and selected it. For MNL-HKG, perkpass was available for Y (20000 miles, one way) and WBC (30000 mile one way). I picked the WBC. As I ticketed the itinerary, it deducted 100000 miles rather than the 50000.

I called nwa.com support, and they cycled through:

3. It is intra asia, so should be booked on the china site..
4. It is what it is...

Eventually offered to connect me to reservations... but I know they would never touch a internet issue, so I insisted that they take care of it. The cs person said she will file a report and get back to me! Not a peep in over 24 hrs.....

So I call the Elite line, and here is what I get:

1. Oh.. it is correct...
2. But it is PerkPass... more miles...
3. We don't have published fare between the city pairs and that is why each leg PVG-NRT, NRT-MNL, MNL-NRT, NRT-HKG incures mileage, and hence the 100K is correct... That is final

I point her to the award chart for flights originating in South Asia on nwa.com which at this time makes no mention of any such exclusions about NW flights, even though there are a number of them listed for KE flights.

So effectively all intra-asia on NW metal flights are now 40000, 80000, 100000 and 120000 on Ysaver, Ypass, Csaver and Cpass respectively. That is a 50% devaluation except for a handful that come to mind( such as MNL-Nagoya, Nagoya-NRT for example).

Am I reading anything wrong here?
Cheers

I think they might be on to something. I live in Japan, so my travels go and end in BKK or SIN or any other NW destination and incur the standard mileage. I guess the problem is if you need or want to travel on NW let's say from HKG to MNL where there really is no direct connection and no through fare offered indeed. It needs to be constructed through NRT and then it is
constructed of two seperate legs. That's where the double miles come in. NW
is not really connecting their Intra-Asian flights, they only serve as feeders to and from NRT.

But this has not been thecase in the past, and it is not reflected as such on their Award Travel Charts. If it is not a glitch, and what you say is correct, then it is a serious devaluation of accrued miles, and must be made public and appropriate notations/modifications on their WP benefits information need to be available for all to see.

Exleftseat Feb 21, 2008 11:44 pm

Are you saying that in the past you were able to snag a MNL-HKG
trip for 20k each way but all of a sudden that venue is denied?
Then you would be right, that would be a serious devaluation.

When will someone fix that calender problem that is on for months now?
I click on the date, calendar pops up, try to move the months along and
calender window disappears with old date still in the box. It will take as
many tries as I need to advance months and then eventually take. But
the return date is still unchanged, and the same thing happens again. It's
mindboggling that no one can fix this!!!
