Pricing for Asia flights to US weird

Checked for fares NRT-LAX and BKK-LAX, 7/29-5/5. Came up as $3805.00 for a total of $ 33,518.21 and $ 1580.00 for a total of $ 14,061.54. Plain crazy.
When I select an itinerary a message comes up that : the fare has decreased. Duuuuuuuuuuuuh. What's up with that? And why are fares out of NRT always 2-3 times higher than out of BKK, SIN or TPE, when these flights
connect in NRT to the same flights NW wants more than double the fare?????

No change here

This has been the state of the market for years. The reason is because they can get it.

I am aware of that. So, I hop to these other destinations on a cheap ticket
and still save money compared to starting out of NRT, lots of money. Plus I get extra miles. Simple as that.

Something is messed up with BizPerks. If I log in with my world perks number and tell nwa.com that I am on corporate travel the list of travellers on the reservation screen allows me to select one of the other travellers on my small business biz perks account, but not me! So I have to book tickets as personal and pass up on the biz perks points. Tech support have reproduced this and I have an issue ID -- waiting for a fix.

Update: I see the same issue in post #318 above so it seems that this is a known issue -- hopefully tech support will soon find it in their knowledge base.

I had the same problem...after a few phone calls (one rather nasty one with a guy who had quite the attitude) nwa.com customer service took my name out and put it back in somehow. Best bet would be to call the bizperks desk and see if they can transfer you over to the right people.

can't find how to pay by paypal...no options given....

On the page when you check out, you can choose to enter a credit card, use a stored credit card, or use PayPal.

It's really hard to miss. I suggest looking again. :)

Asia Site?????

For the last few days when navigating around NWA.com I suddenly find myself at the entrance to the Asia site. Happens a lot. Using Mozilla, if that's any help.

I Think I'm Turning Japanese

I just clicked on a link on the "My NWA Info" page, and it pulled up this information for what appears to be an Asia based NW PAX:

Dear Taro S______:

Flight: NW 99
To: Los Angeles, CA
Departure Time: April 1 3:30 pm
Departure Gate: 25

Arrival Time: April 1 8:00 am

Status: Ontime

Thank you for flying with Northwest Airlines.

You have received this message because you are subscribed to My NWA Info services from Northwest Airlines, Department A6810, 2700 Lone Oak Parkway, St. Paul, MN 55121. To update your notification choices or to unsubscribe, please visit nwa.com.

Also, a number of the links on the "My NWA Info" page are coming up page not found. My guess is that NW has a rogue web author who published something outside of the normal production release window or did not do the promotion correctly.

"Invalid E-Cert"

Tried to use a PK222 on line tonight but was told that cert appeared to be invalid.

Called Chisholm. They had no trouble applying it to the reservation.

By the way, had a second one that I tried. Also with the same results.

Searching by price still does not yield the same flights as searching by schedule, even if one restricts the time-of-departure parameter for the search.

Yes, and the only time using the 'time of day' entries when searching for flights works is when you click on More Options. If you attempt to use the time of day entries on the home page they have absolutely zero affect on the search results. However, if you click on More Options first and enter your search there then the time of day entries actually affect the results.

Reservation Confirmation X 15???

I went on to nwa.com and paid to make a change both the outbound and return of an itinerary I have for next weekend. I did the change during the afternoon, and when I checked back on my personal e-mail and I had 15 EXTRA reservation conformation e-mail for this change in my e-mail. All of them quoted the same ticket numbers, so I hope they didn't charge my credit card 15 times more than they were entitled to!

Watchful Jun 30, 2008 9:22 am

Searching round trip AUS-SNA for Jan 8/9 '09.

Searching by price/schedule, I get $451.00.

Searching by price with the +/- 3 days option, I get $238.50 (for the preferred dates).

Searching by price without the +/- 3 days option, I get $340.00.

Just to clarify - these are not different prices for the same itinerary.

With these three price options, I get three different itineraries for the return trip as the "lowest price."

Quite annoying. :td:

I got 35 reservation confirmation emails, sent every 10 to 20 minutes. I was worried about the CC charges as well.
