AA to DL Status Match

Had a VP at our company decide he wants to start on Delta instead of AA, due to addition of many flights. Gave him instructions on the fax to send in, but he mentioned it's been a few weeks and he hasn't heard back. Is there a good direct line to call in to and check on this?

FWIW, I got this from United, three weeks ago:

That might play in.

Have some travel coming up on Alaska and decided to attempt to status match from UA 1P to AS MVP Gold.

I signed up for Mileage Plan then sent an email to the address that I found in other posts on this thread with a copy of my new UA MP card and statement that came not so long ago and a short note. I didn't get a response though MVP Gold status is now reflected when I log in (whole process <24hours). Looking forward to giving AS a try in the coming months. ^^

Update: He came in yesterday and said he was notified of his upgrade to DL Gold Medallion on his return flight's check-in yesterday - was very pleased!

Was it the challenge or was it a straight match?

I read about 20 pages of this thread, but couldn't find the answer to my question.

If I attain lifetime status with AA would another airline in Skyteam or *A match my status for lifetime or would it be a year by year thing?

It would definitely not be lifetime. Most likely a 90 day match after which you would have to earn it by flying (at least this is true for *A; don't see why anybody would want SkyPesos in the first place).

Not interested in UAL at all but AA and def intrigued by Virgin. If I do the AA challenge from DL 2012 Plat, would I have to re qualify in 2012 on AA?

Any idea if Virgin matches?

Matched UA Prem Exec to AA Platinum!

Called up AA to see if I could get status match as I have flown primarily on United due to living in Chicago and destinations I frequent have more UA than AA flights. However, company's preferred airline is AA and I have recently noticed higher fare differences which in turn put my booking through the company site as "non compliant" when fare difference is too high.

So, AA rep told me they are accepting status matches right now in 2011 without any challenges, etc. and sent me an email with instructions on where to email or fax a copy of my UA most current membership level. 6 days later I now have AA platinum through Feb 2012.

You do have to requalify with standard flight or mileage amounts to maintain your level, but I was not asked to do a challenge.

Great news and congrats -- any chance you could post those instructions here?

I just had a friend status match to Platinum today. Here's the email:

Thanks for speaking with me today about the special opportunity we are offering for you to obtain American Airlines AAdvantage elite status without meeting the standard qualification requirements. In order to proceed, please provide us with documentation reflecting the elite status level you have in the frequent flier program we discussed.

This documentation must reflect your name and elite status level for the 2011 Membership Year and could be in the form of a dated elite membership card or a copy or screen shot of your most recent account summary. In addition, please provide your AAdvantage number and your preferred phone number in case follow-up is necessary.

If you wish to email this documentation back to us, please be sure to "Reply" to this message - and for prompt service, do not change the subject line. Simply include a copy of your documentation in any of the following formats, not to exceed 1 mb:

.pdf

.tif

.jpg

.bmp

If you prefer not to send us email, you may FAX copies of your documentation to (817) 963-7882. Be sure to include your AAdvantage number and your preferred phone number.

Please note it is not necessary to send us both an email and a FAX - one or the other will be sufficient. In either case, you can expect to hear from us within approximately one week of receipt of your credentials.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard your next American Airlines flight - as a valued elite member with all of the benefits and privileges that status affords. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
