How long is your new SPG Platinum status valid?
OK, I may be pushing my luck here, but wanted to see if anyone had any experiences pursuing a status match to HH Diamond when already HH Gold through a fast track. I did four stays in 90 days to get Gold back in the middle of last year, but it looks like I may have ten stays in 90 days the beginning of next year, so wanted to see if there was a chance they'll issue me a fast track. Any experiences?
Thanks!
Edit: BTW, have about 30 stays at PC properties this year, if that helps, but otherwise only stay at Hilton properties.

I recall you need to fax your other Hotel program statement to SPG in order to get the status match. That's how I got my first SPG PLT. For the second question:Originally Posted by Didi

For me, I was going to re-qualify anyway for the year 2009 from my stays in 2008 so the timing didn't matter much except that I want to start my immediate SPG hotel stays with Plat status.
Enjoy the last few days of 2007. If I were you, I'd wait till March 1 to get my status match to SPG unless you have numerous stays planned in Jan-Feb. $0.02Originally Posted by brahms77
As others have posted, the status is usually valid for the remaining months for the year you were comped and another full year after that. Others have advised that the best time for requesting SPG Plat status match is March 1st of any given year as you will get comped for two full years. For me, I was going to re-qualify anyway for the year 2009 from my stays in 2008 so the timing didn't matter much except that I want to start my immediate SPG hotel stays with Plat status.

Can anyone who got matched after March 1st that the SPG status will then be good for two years? (i.e. if I send my request on March 1st 2008, I will be matched until Feb 2010)Originally Posted by noirpepper

And I'm one of them. I got my match March 1, 2007 It allowed me to play with Starwood this past year, and see what I thought of the program and properties. Now that I've experienced platinum status, I like it. Thus, in 2008, I'll buckle down and get serious about requalification.Originally Posted by gleff

Gary gave me great advice when he suggested last year that I wait til March 1 to ask for my status match. Having virtually two years of status is a very nice thing.
Mr. xxxx,
Thank you for contacting Marriott Rewards regarding our Elite membership
program.
For Silver Elite status you must stay 10 Elite nights per calendar year, Gold
Status requires 50 Elite nights per year, and Platinum status requires 75 Elite
nights per year.
The Silver Elite level is achieved and renewed based on the number of Elite
nights on your account in a calendar year, January 1st to December 31st.
Initial Elite level achievement for the Gold and Platinum Elite levels is
handled differently. To achieve Gold or Platinum, a member only need stay the
required number of nights in any rolling calendar year. As an example, let's say
that you had 30 nights from September 1st, 2007 to December 31st, 2007 and 45
nights from January 1st, 2008 to September 1st, 2008. As this would give you 75
nights in a rolling year, you would qualify for our Platinum status.
To earn Elite night credit a member must personally stay and pay the hotel
directly for his or her room. If you have more than one room during your stay,
you only earn Elite night credit for your personal room. Also, if you are
staying using reward points, those nights do not count towards your Elite
status. When you achieve an Elite status your account remains at that Elite
status for the remainder of the calendar year in which you reach the status and
for the following calendar year.
Each week, our computer system checks the number of Elite nights on your account
for the last 12 months. If you have reach the nights needed requirement during
that time you are upgraded to the Gold or Platinum Elite level.
The nights needed to renew Gold or Platinum Elite status are based on a calendar
year so our online system tracks and reports your Elite nights based on the
current calendar year.
Thank you very much, and let me know if you have any more questions about our
program.
Sincerely,
Amy Jacobson

I was comped for entire 2008. I will have enough stays in 2008 to requalify for 2009... so no problems. Originally Posted by noirpepper
