I complied with requirements set out in post #1 above and faxed over both sides of my Hyatt Diamond card, up-to-date online Hyatt statement and a cover letter setting out relevant information including my contact details and email address. After a few days, when I heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement, I telephoned and was told by a nice agent that my application had reached the right department, that all particulars had been received and I should hear positively from SPG soon. After about 2 weeks, I emailed and asked, giving my SPG number and particulars of my request. I explained that I was waiting for a response to my request as I was intending to book stays at Starwood. l received a response that the process could take up to 30 days. Now, over 30 days has passed and I have heard nothing. There has been no request for additional information nor any communication, whether positive or negative. Indeed, if I had not taken the initiative to telephone as well as email in chasing up the matter (which resulted in the response that the application could take 30 days, which time has passed), I would not have heard anything. As things stand, despite chasing, my application has simply gone into a black void. This experience is obviously not very pleasant and rather surprising coming from the SPG which I keep reading on this board, including posts about their wonderful customer service, attention towards Platinum members and efficiency in handling status match requests. Even if my application were somehow not approved, I would have expected SPG to respond, with reasons. It seems that in my case, SPG does not value an approach from a frequent traveler with potential for loyalty and has decided to dispense with an answer.

This year, I have accumulated 50 stays with Hyatt although I also stay at other hotels.

I wonder if anyone on this board can comment on this rather discouraging experience?

Thank you.

Welcome to ft DDL I would go on the starwood forum and pm starwood lurker and ask what the heck happend!

Dear Tom,

Thank you.
I have sent a private message to Starwood Lurker and am waiting to hear from him. I have also cross-referenced my post above to the Starwood forum.

Radisson Gold to Hyatt Diamond

I have been well treated with Radisson, but will be wanting to stay at more Hyatts this coming year. I tried posting on the Hyatt thread but with no response.

I have a Radisson Gold Card (top Radisson tier) will, Hyatt status match me to Diamond? I would like to start staying with them in their Florida properties; but all I have seen on this thread is about Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, etc. This would be a great upgrade for me, the Hyatt Grand Cypress, at the Walt Disney Resort; is near where I go on business. If they were willing to do it, I would move all my business/personal stays (where there are Hyatt properties) to them.

Years ago, I did have Starwood Gold and HHonors VIP Gold status. I know there are a good many on flyertalk that like the Marriott, Hilton, and Starwood programs, but I mainly want VIP club floor lounge access. This is more important to me, then suite upgrades or high point accumulation. The Grand Cypress includes complementary cocktails in its Club floor lounge; the Hilton and others (here at Disney/Orlando) have a cash bar. Based on this, would Hyatt indeed be the best choice for me?

Well Hyatt does seem to like Radisson Gold. I faxed them a copy of my Gold Elite card, a copy of the Radisson web page showing elite status, and a copy of 10 stays in the past two months. In a day I was upgraded to Diamond!! I have enjoyed Radissons (great value) but I feal like I have truly arrived, with Hyatt. Hyatt is just so classy; more money for sure, but still a great place. The vive I got was, that they really cared about their Diamond's and that "We" were special to Hyatt. In the end, sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes a bit more. Thanks a bunch you guys, this is truly special to me!!

Does anyone know what the cutoff date is for status matching to Hyatt as far as status being valid for all of next year? I've heard August 1, but wanted to confirm....

Thanks!

how to HHonors match without fast tracking

Does anyone know of a way to match Hyatt/SPG top tier to HHonors Diamond without doing a "fast track"?

Thanks!

I hadn't stayed at Hilton for some time and never requested a status match. So I wanted to sample the product, as it were. With over 20 nights so far this year, I recently requested a matched.

The reply was a long explanation of how coveted the Diamond program is and was offered a "fast-track"??? requiring 21 nights within 90 days!!!

I had to read the email three times to make certain I wasn't imagining the terms. More than a bit absurd I'd say.

BlueEyedFF is correct. It seems that this is the default HHonors reply these days -- I received the above e-mail even after sending proof of my SPG Platinum status. This is a toughie, and I'm not sure that it's enough of an incentive to move to Hilton from Starwood.

hotel status match

Simply call Hilton and Starwood customer service and ask whether a status match could be possible for you. Likely you will be told to fax proof of your Marriott Plat status and Hey Presto! At least that's what happened to me citing Hilton Gold and Starwood Gold when asking for PriorityClub Plat. I was following advice found elsewhere on Flyertalk and it worked immediately. Good luck.
