Does anybody know the current email address for any requests at Marriott?
Would they consider offering a PC RA a challenge? If so how many nights would it involve?
I am Marriott Silver but would like to experience Gold.

SPG Gold status match
Wow, I am very surprised about this! Yesterday, after reading up on this thread, I decided to send an email to Starwood asking for a status match from my AA Plat status. I never thought they'd actually do it, but this morning I logged into my account and I was SPG Gold. I never had to send them any proof or anything. Here's a copy of the email I sent and the one I received back:
Here's the email I received back:
Now, I'm not sure why the expiration date says February, 2001 but does anyone know the actual date that my gold status will expire?
Hello,
This email is in regards to receiving a status match to Gold Preferred status with Starwood. I am currently a Platinum Elite member of American Airlines, and I was told that Starwood will comp Gold Preferred status to elite members of American Airlines. With my new job, I will be doing a lot of business travel in the coming months, and I am in the process of choosing a hotel chain to give my business to. If Starwood is willing to comp me with Gold Preferred status, then I would happily use Starwood hotels for all of my upcoming stays. I am willing to send over any documents necessary to prove my status with American and I look forward to your response.
Thanks,
mbmiles88

Hyatt
If you can demonstrate elite status with another chain and 10 stays or 30 nights within the past 12 months, Hyatt will comp you to Diamond status.
Send a fax with a copy of your elite statement (online statement is fine) and elite card to the Hyatt Account Services Desk (402-593-9449).

I have at least 16 stays with Hilton in the last months but I'm not Diamond.
Would Hyatt actually consider to match me to GP Diamond ?

Yes, I asked Hyatt for a status match the other day and they told me to show them at least 10 stays or 30 nights.

Got a status match & platinum challenge at Marriott rewards based on SPG Platinum & HH Gold status.
After reviewing your Marriott Rewards account with my supervisor, we have decided to upgrade your Marriott Rewards account to Gold Elite Status. Please allow 3-5 business days for your online Marriott Rewards account to reflect your new Elite status. You will be receiving your new Gold Elite membership card and packet in the mail within 4-6 weeks.
Also, we would like to offer you a Platinum Elite challenge. If you are able to complete 18 nights within the next three months, I would be more than happy to upgrade your account to Platinum level at that time.

I might have just gotten extremely lucky, but hopefully this info will be of use to someone else in a similar situation.
I recently got out of grad school. Because of that school, I had not traveled enough to hold top tier on any hotel program. However, I had been Hyatt Diamond a few years ago. So I emailed Hyatt and asked if they could offer any sort of fast track as I used to be Diamond and would again be staying in hotels 3-4 nights a week on business. I also offered proof that I had in fact been a full time student for the last few years. To my surprise, I received an email from Hyatt a few days later saying they had upgraded my account to Diamond.

I agree. I would have easily made diamond just in 4 months of travel (especially with FFNs giving me an incentive to have 1-night stays), but it was a nice surprise not to have to wait a few months. I must say, Hyatt never did one thing to make me want to stay anywhere else when I was traveling a few years ago, and they were the first chain that I went back to now that I am traveling again.

SPG not respond to Hyatt Diamond's request for status match after a month
I am Hyatt Diamond and upon reading the posts here on FT, I wished to try Starwood. One month ago, I joined SPG and applied to be matched to SPG Platinum. I complied with requirements set out in post #1 above and faxed over both sides of my Hyatt Diamond card, up-to-date online Hyatt statement and a cover letter setting out relevant information including my contact details and email address. After a few days, when I heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement, I telephoned and was told by a nice agent that my application had reached the right department, that all particulars had been received and I should hear positively from SPG soon. After about 2 weeks, I emailed and asked, giving my SPG number and particulars of my request. I explained that I was waiting for a response to my request as I was intending to book stays at Starwood. l received a response that the process could take up to 30 days. Now, over 30 days has passed and I have heard nothing. There has been no request for additional information nor any communication, whether positive or negative. Indeed, if I had not taken the initiative to telephone as well as email in chasing up the matter (which resulted in the response that the application could take 30 days, which time has passed), I would not have heard anything. As things stand, despite chasing, my application has simply gone into a black void. This experience is obviously not very pleasant and rather surprising coming from the SPG which I keep reading on this board, including posts about their wonderful customer service, attention towards Platinum members and efficiency in handling status match requests. Even if my application were somehow not approved, I would have expected SPG to respond, with reasons. It seems that in my case, SPG does not value an approach from a frequent traveler with potential for loyalty and has decided to dispense with an answer.
This year, I have accumulated 50 stays with Hyatt although I also stay at other hotels.
I wonder if anyone on this board can comment on this rather discouraging experience?
Thank you.
