Hmmm. That's ominous. It was working fine when I looked at it yesterday.
Hope this isn't a sign the United/TopGuest partnership is coming to an end.

pcharles Jun 16, 2012 1:48 pm

saw they did a system change about a week ago, will have to see how this plays out.

BrycePGH Jun 16, 2012 2:51 pm

Hopefully the are just merging the regular TopGuest site with the MileagePlus Topguest site. I always thought it was odd that they were separate. My last miles posted 6/11 for what its worth. I have a flight Monday so we'll see...

I am afraid this is the end of the United/topguest partnership. Even slickdeals posted this trick last month, which would rapidly bring it to death.

phdtomd Jun 16, 2012 3:18 pm

I noticed that I only get HH and PC points after checking in after 7pm. I also noticed that I not longer get 50pts for both Crown Plaza and Holiday inn. Now it's either one or the other.

PC and HH pts post in about an hour but I get the email immediately

Izushisobaman Jun 16, 2012 7:45 pm

Topguest - additional points for checkins

United points are still posting. Last one was for check in on 15th.

Same, I got an email for a checkin yesterday. None for a checkin today. Hopefully they are just integrating United into the main portal rather then scrapping the program outright.

amolkold Jun 16, 2012 9:42 pm

Checked in to airport yesterday, got UA miles.

Checked in today, no UA miles. :(

pcharles Jun 17, 2012 6:31 am

The sky is not falling.
There's always beem quirks with the program.

The only difference right now is if you had not signed up before the link was taken down, it remains to be seen if you may too late to join the party.
The cops havent busted this kegger yet.

UA miles normally don't post until the FOLLOWING day. If you had them post the same day, you were just lucky.

Every other time I've checked in, I've immediately received an email stating I'd get 50 miles, which always posted the next day.

Got e-mail Friday, miles posted Saturday.
No e-mail Saturday, no miles Sunday.

My post was simply a data point for people saying that UA wasn't posting ... for me, there was a difference in the two days.

Flagstaff Jun 17, 2012 4:52 pm

Similar

I'm in a similar situation. I received miles for a Friday UA check in, but nothing for check-ins on Saturday or today (Sunday).

marion10 Jun 17, 2012 4:56 pm

Are Kimpton hotels still a partner?

same here.

Email yesterday, miles today. Sunday's and follow up are typically delayed.

Love the impatience over 50 miles though.

It's really more the fact that programs can change their terms without letting participants know in advance. If its smooth sailing for a while and then a cog enters the gears in the program, it makes us wonder if it's a temporary glitch or a permanent change. 50 miles may not be much, but extrapolate it over the course of many months and we're talking thousands of miles.

Almost replied with "duh" but held back. Instead just think these people with very little time in this promo stop freakin out with a post every other day. I'm scoring 250 per day so I realize mathematics far better than you comprehend.

united/mileageplus signup page is not there anymore, maybe they discontinued it? -- hopefully I'm wrong.

Haven't received any united check-in points since last Friday...

Thank you! I can't find it either! Somebody help...

SzatRyan Jun 18, 2012 8:11 pm

Was checking in daily for a month with an automatic email received immediately after check in. No email confirmation or points since Friday for airport check-ins. I think this program is no longer....so so so SO sad!!

I was registered for united topguest....I also tried going to topguest.com to log in and not only is United no longer on their page but my entire log in account is no longer....it says username/email cannot be find....I was able to re-register but only for hotel points now which don't post/work as well.....such a bummer!

michael_v Jun 19, 2012 1:52 pm

PC/Holiday Inn Express still works for me almost instantly - both the email and the points. UA is dead since last Friday, as others have reported.

pcharles Jun 19, 2012 6:30 pm

UA is on pause

TG is in negotiations with UA and the sign up is removed (and don't expect new mileage postings) until negotiations are successful. Nothing planned now to happen until a contract is reworked and hopefully it does.
Until then, everyone relax and go about your other business. Will update when I know more.

Thanks! Good information to know :)

Hudi Jun 20, 2012 7:11 am

Yup, This is what they emailed me:

Sorry for the inconveniences you are having. We are currently in negotiations with United Miles to extend the program. Currently the promotion has been expired. We have since taken down the sign up website. We will keep you updated on the negotiations.
Thanks and happy travels,
Tim

I plan to visit Helsinki, Finland and could make some checkins at Crown Plaza or HolidayInn there. But Topguest shows only 4 Best Western properties available for earning points in Helsinki. Why they don't show any of IHG properties?

marion10 Jun 20, 2012 7:40 pm

I just started using topguest (and registered for UA just before it died)- but I am getting Hilton Double Tree and Holiday Inn points posted to my account within 24 hours. I stop on my way to work for the Holiday Inn and on my way home for the Doubletree.

daninstl Jun 22, 2012 2:10 pm

It seems that the Virgin points arent posting either. I recently added this to my topguest and got 25 points for a check in and none since. I hope they get United back on track. I could use some more miles from them.

Virgin is still fine, 25 points was credited to my account this morning.

In the UK, only InterContinental hotels, of which I can only find one; London Park Lane, are eligible. That may be the case in Finland as well.

phdtomd Jun 24, 2012 7:36 pm

My Priority Points went from posting immediately to absent for the past 4 days. :( Doubletree Hilton posting fine. I get the emails but no points

Same here with Hilton. I have 550 points on TopGuest where they say I'll get them, but they haven't actually posted to my HHonors account ...

With a simple script, a family of six might be getting 300 miles/day in United, plus similar results with other programs. My guess is the that the goose has been killed.

Lets not forget that the old United numbers got credit until the last day. So it was more like 100 miles per day per person, in exchange for a silly email.

I guess I too believe the goose to be dead.

It was pretty rampantly abused. I took part, but not more than a few check-ins per week.

Off topic, but speaking of abuse, does anyone with a simple script for the Hawaiian air toolbar care to PM me some help?

The Corrupt Banker Jun 25, 2012 3:13 pm

Likewise, I'm also having issues with Priority Club. Last posted points were on the 20th June. Hilton is fine though. Strange.

michael_v Jun 25, 2012 8:27 pm

Priority club is still posting for me.

If you look through this long thread, you'll find that inconsistency in posting is the norm. Sometimes a program won't post for a short while, but it eventually will catch up. Nothing to worry about unless it continues for a couple weeks. Patience is key. Separately but similarly, it has always been the case that check-ins will not post at all if the app determines (even if incorrectly) that you aren't physically present. This can happen for a wide variety of reasons, and just because you've checked in successfully in the past or because you are showing as checked in doesn't mean that the app is "believing" you and counting it. When this happens, there are easy remedies, but it isn't TopGuest's fault for not posting, as they only post when the app has decided you're legit.
