There is a lot of confusion here. My experience has been check in, either m.foursquare.com or on the mobile app, get points.
The points you mention are the ones that foursquare gives you. Yes if you are too far foursquare does not award you points for the checkin. These points are not related to the topguest promo points awarded for checkins. I've been standing in the actual property and had foursquare say I'm too far away--their app is just not precise enough sometimes due to GPS issues. But topguest looks at your checkins, not your foursquare points. So it seems to have an automated check that searches your registered foursqure account checkins for hotel keywords and then give you points based on this. I also sync these checkins to my facebook, but have not tested if it is actually these foursquare checkins posting to facebook that are generating the "hit" with topguest. There are Problems: Topguest is very sporatic in actually seeing your checkins. Sometimes I check in and immediately get an email that I was awarded points. Somtimes I check in, then later in the day I'm at a different place and I check in there, and all of a sudden it is like topguest gets "unstuck" and points from both checkins hit my email. Another issue is that their "day" ends around 3-4pm my time so a checkin around that time may count for the next day. Then when you are at the same property the next morning and I check in, you won't see an email ever because I technically already checked in that "day." This could lead to confusion and thinking that they are not correctly offering points for checkins. Then there's the issue of waiting for them to push your points from topguest to your actual loyalty accounts. This is usually delayed days/weeks as well. Basically: There is no way to audit this program, there is no predictable pattern of the company's behavior, there is no way to know what points have already been awarded, and there is no way to keep a good total of what points you should have. BUT it sure has been a nice way to get a boatload of points for me, so I'm just shutting up and enjoying the ride. Many times I've thought "oh great, its over... no more points." And then the next day I get 3 emails in a row giving me points for checkins from the past two days. |
some problems or ideas?
Does foursquare login + apart login to facebook --) DOuble points? I read that people have different topguests accounts. But they give only to 1 miles-account, or do you have different miles accounts? |
I've had similar issues with my TopGuest account ... I use the m.foursquare.com method to check-in (even though I am usually within 0.1 miles of a BW/HI Express/Doubletree some point during the day, so GPS should work). I've done 7 check-ins on foursquare in the past few days, but only 4 hit TopGuest. All have been "off-the-grid," but they've worked in the past so that shouldn't be an issue.
I checked in at a Doubletree at 3:59pm pacific, and it showed as same-day. However, the Best Western at 7:55pm pacific showed up as next day. So I agree that there's a late afternoon cutoff somewhere. Kind of annoying, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. (Actually, I just saw that I checked in at the Doubletree at 7:30pm, then 3:59pm the next day, but they counted as the same day, so that's why it didn't count twice.) Also, if you're worried about keywords, search for valid locations here Lastly, I don't think using 4sq + facebook will work, since you're looking at a maximum per hotel chain within the TopGuest program per day. Different TopGuest accounts can work, but I don't want to be a target for a shutdown because of 50 pts/day, so I'm going to keep my 1. This program serves a great function ... a family member is 400 HHonors points away from 10K, which is what I'll need for a GS hit if that program returns. This is such a simple way of topping off. |

So if they checkin on different accounts I do not really abuse the offer. But I need to get this combined into my accounts. This is a way to lever costs for us that will work 1 month in Poland and Ukrain. |
Looks like Hampton Inn check-ins are dead as of March 26th http://www.topguest.com/terms/hilton
am only getting the 50 points/day for Doubletree from March 27th.... (even though the terms say it should have expired in Nov 2011!) |

Unless, of course, they just start posting. Which is always a possibility with TopGuest. David Flyalog |
Out of curiosity from where the checkin's points come..from Topguest or from FF program.
I can understand if FF program is issuing the points and Topguest running the platform but if Topguest is isusing the points how they make money out of it?Since each 50 point chek-in is costing probaly around 30 cents or less? |

I agree that the page simply hasn't been updated. I'm still getting 50 miles from checking in at Hampton, at least five times since March 26th.

For the past 30 days,
the longest I have wait for my points to be logged into my Topguest account was 2 days. There is indeed a lag for BW. Points were posted to my account 1 day behind. No time lag for HH and PCR. |
My account was suspended just as few others on this thread last week.
Advise for others: Do not do a lot of check ins every day |
I have check in's for hampton through 2 april. All of whom posted with topguest, however none have posted past the 26th of March. I am beginning to agree that the Hilton points for Hampton has ended, at least for some of us. But BW and Priority Club still alive and kicking. :)

3-5 check-ins M-F. I do not have a clear answer as if it was a lot since I had weeks where I did not do anything.
If anyone has successful reinstated their account, please share. |

My account was suspended early this week too. I wrote to the customer support if they can't reinstate my account because I never receive a warning email prior. No dice..
If anyone has successful reinstated their account, please share. =========== Hi monkey, As previously mentioned, we've noticed that you seem to be using Topguest in ways that violate our Terms of Service. We are hereby closing your account and will not be forwarding instances of you receiving points to our partners. Regards, Topguest. =========== As it turns out I did not receive a prior warning email too. |

3 check-ins per day for 5-6 days per week.
|
None of my check-ins were registering since December. This week I logged off my Facebook account on Topguest and logged back in, and now magically I'm getting points again. For PC, I always get the points twice for every check in, no idea why. I'm counting the extra points for all the past check-ins that didn't go through and not complaining.

Did you spread them out during the day, or all at once? I try to leave at least an hour between them all.

what time zone are they in.
when i look at my points history just now i already see points for apr 7th. still 11pm pdt here |
Has anyone seen points for United since Apr 5?
|
No United from 4 different accounts since 4/5......
Check in everyday. Time to stop?? |
Hilton Doubletree has been showing up in TG up to 5 April but stopped posting to HH on 31 March. So I switched back to Priority Club and these have been posting with a couple days lag. HH used to post daily, shortly after the check in, so I am thinking they aren't participating anymore.
Nothing on United (old UA #) since 5 April but I have been getting the confirmation emails. Hopefully it's just a lag because of Easter holidays or something. |
