That's good to know, was going to book a few more speculatively but I won't if that's the case. I can't seem to find the hotel cancellation policy on the confirmation email that I got either.

It's probably best that those who think this is dead for their date & destination combinations just hold off a bit before declaring the entire deal gone. Just booked a 2nd MAD trip, no issues.

Had been sitting on this for a few weeks now waiting for my summer plans to firm up. Panic mode as soon as I saw this here to book before it got pulled.
Got $1650/person during the summer SFO-LHR-CDG - also booked a $2100 SFO-LHR roundtrip (which while not quite as good is still a good summer business class fare)

Are you booking these for others or just speculatively for yourself? DPs above said cancellation isn't free even within 24 hours.

Booked LAX-FCO for $1,079 pp. Already called British Airways to attach our Alaska Mileage Plan numbers so with Gold 75K, we should be set to bring in about 50k RDMs each. Pretty solid haul. The only unfortunate thing is BA charges a ridiculous amount for advance seat selection even in Business Class, so I guess we'll play the odds at check-in.
Also, for those thinking of booking speculatively, I did confirm with an AAdvantage Vacations Club representative that the entire reservation can be canceled within 24 hours for free. She also said most people book throwaway hotels on these packages, so she was well aware of the practice.
edit: I'm crossing my fingers that I can get the credit with AS. Other users are saying that free cancelation isn't an option within 24 hours so YMMV
