Sorry for the confusion
What i meant was.
I would rather do first/biz one way from EWR than a return.
Is it possible to do EWR(Nov 30) one way to any West coast destination in first/biz for double EQM?
If that option wasnt available im sure i could do a return between Nov 30- Dec4. As you pointed out.
Thanks
hope that helps

Request is confusing. Can travel out of EWR Nov30-Dec04, but need to be on the west coast Nov30-Dec03? Seems you are asking for Nov30 outbound to west coast, Dec04 return to get to target mileage. If this is correct, then the destination is missing, so I will have to pick one out of the hat.
For 6000PQM:

As the basic EWR-SFO roundtrip fare is $461, adding a hundred bucks or two isn't too bad. Others may be able to find better options.

With W-fare (or higher) on TPAC/TATL being necessary for GPU, best option may be HKG. I'm seeing $1117 ORD-HKG rt W-fare (1066PQD) on many dates. I haven't checked for positive R space, though. PVG/PEK are also possible, but require visa. All three require overnight.
Sorry for not being more specific, really need to leave for work now...

I think this one is interesting:

If you want to end up further north, SEA is about $600
Good luck

Dumb question...Noob
When you search for this fare, do you build via multiple cities or round trip with two stops. I cannot get this kind of pricing...any feedback welcome. Thx in advance.

On United.com, search ORD-GUM flexible schedule with a length of trip of 2 days. The W fare is as low as $1065. There is better chance to clear upgrade on ORD-SFO-HKG route than ORD-HKG direct. Once you reach GUM, you can do the same day change to GUM-NRT-ORD (flat bed) from GUM-HNL-DEN-ORD. There are a lot of miles for such a trip. Good luck.
BTW I do have a valid China visa.
Also are there any tools to search for UA flights with flexible dates where a confirmed upgrade is a search option? I would pay more to fly on a different dates if i could confirm global upgrade. To drill in all the flight-date combinations to see if there are confirmable upgrades is a significant pain. Thanks.FRR

Thanks for the suggestions. Are you saying that i need to book GUM-HNL-DEN-ORD then while on the ground in guam change it to GUM-NRT-ORD? Isn't there a way to do this in advance so im able to confirm the upgrade?

On UA site, you use all search options; select upgrade type: GPU; or type in the fare class, W. You can search SFO-HGH or SFO-CTU to find R spaces on the dates you want to travel. This is because R=0 on ORD-SFO. ORD-CTU (ORD-HGH) search will give you R=0.
Good luck.
Edit: For the same Dec. 3-5 ORD-SFO-HGH, the E+ section is wide open. You can easily get a row at the back of this section for yourself. This fare will give you $600 PQD (total price of $688).
