Sorry for the confusion

What i meant was.
I would rather do first/biz one way from EWR than a return.
Is it possible to do EWR(Nov 30) one way to any West coast destination in first/biz for double EQM?

If that option wasnt available im sure i could do a return between Nov 30- Dec4. As you pointed out.

Thanks

hope that helps

For 6000PQM:

UA:$556 EWR-LAS-LAX; LAX-ORD-MCO-EWR 6150PQM
Wed 30 Nov
UA1971 EWR-LAS 1545-1829
UA584 LAS-LAX 1958-2118
Sun 4 Dec
UA910 LAX-ORD 0025-0627
UA1586 ORD-MCO 0730-1109
UA2048 MCO-EWR 1230-1507

https://goo.gl/flights/xji9

For 8000PQM:

UA:$648 EWR-BQN-EWR-SFO; SFO-EWR 8079PQM
Tue 29 Nov
UA1071 EWR-BQN 2110-0155(+1 day)
Wed 30 Nov
UA1162 BQN-EWR 0250-0545
UA1920 EWR-SFO 0715-1036
Sun 4 Dec
UA577 SFO-EWR 0700-1513 (other flights possible)

https://goo.gl/flights/75Be

You can play around with dates/destinations to see what works best for you.

As the basic EWR-SFO roundtrip fare is $461, adding a hundred bucks or two isn't too bad. Others may be able to find better options.

Sorry for not being more specific, really need to leave for work now...
On United.com, search ORD-GUM flexible schedule with a length of trip of 2 days. The W fare is as low as $1065. There is better chance to clear upgrade on ORD-SFO-HKG route than ORD-HKG direct. Once you reach GUM, you can do the same day change to GUM-NRT-ORD (flat bed) from GUM-HNL-DEN-ORD. There are a lot of miles for such a trip. Good luck.

SFO-SJU-SFO out 12/9 return 12/10 is $382. SJC is a little more. Any routing is over 7000 miles.

You can use Google Flights for just that...leave the destination open and look at the map. Here's the link with your parameters:
https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...sc=b;a=UA;mc=m

I think this one is interesting:
UA:$585 EWR-IAH-SJC 6016PQM in First
Wed 30 Nov
UA1161 EWR-IAH 0500-0754
UA1957 IAH-SJC 0919-1138

https://goo.gl/flights/2X1G

If you want to end up further north, SEA is about $600

Good luck

Dumb question...Noob

When you search for this fare, do you build via multiple cities or round trip with two stops. I cannot get this kind of pricing...any feedback welcome. Thx in advance.

Just by origination and destination. Here's the cheapest to the end of the year.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are you saying that i need to book GUM-HNL-DEN-ORD then while on the ground in guam change it to GUM-NRT-ORD? Isn't there a way to do this in advance so im able to confirm the upgrade?

BTW I do have a valid China visa.

Also are there any tools to search for UA flights with flexible dates where a confirmed upgrade is a search option? I would pay more to fly on a different dates if i could confirm global upgrade. To drill in all the flight-date combinations to see if there are confirmable upgrades is a significant pain. Thanks.FRR

To get confirmed upgrades, ORD-HKG is not a choice of destination for you. But ORD-HKG has the lowest W fares (around $1100). Because you need 15,500 miles, this eliminates the direct ORD-PEK and ORD-PVG routes. ORD-PEK-CAN (15,488 miles, PEK-CAN on Air China) may not wok for you. ORD-SFO-CTU and ORD-SFO-HGH will give you enough miles. SFO-HGH has confirmed upgrade (R) space available. You will probably not get upgrades on ORD-SFO. All of these Chinese cities have W fares of around $1500. For example, ORD-SFO-HGH on Dec. 3-5 is $1481 with confirmed upgrades.

On UA site, you use all search options; select upgrade type: GPU; or type in the fare class, W. You can search SFO-HGH or SFO-CTU to find R spaces on the dates you want to travel. This is because R=0 on ORD-SFO. ORD-CTU (ORD-HGH) search will give you R=0.

Good luck.

Edit: For the same Dec. 3-5 ORD-SFO-HGH, the E+ section is wide open. You can easily get a row at the back of this section for yourself. This fare will give you $600 PQD (total price of $688).

ORD to KWI or DXB is about the right distance and there are flights departing around 6pm on the 2nd that can meet your constraints. You need to get a fare class that earns 100% PQM on Lufthansa (anything but I, K, O, R, X) for the segments to/from KWI or similar if flying another airline. Check on the UA web site for PQM earnings on partner airlines.
