- Fare feels too good to be true? Don't call the airline!!!!!!
- Double check that the fare is actually in Business or First as some online search engines or OTA's confuse booking classes on some airlines.
- Post as many details as possible about the First / Business fare, including fare class, fare basis, one-way / roundtrip, sales channel, sample dates & total price, including taxes.
- Post the details within the thread itself and not in the post title field as any information typed here cannot be seen by members accessing the thread using mobile devices.
- Refrain from posting fare requests or engaging in off topic debates such as fare trends, specific aircraft configuration or visa requirements
- The deeply discounted international fares discussed here are almost always specific to a certain country of origin, so don't ask if it works in reverse (e.g. a SFO-LHR-SFO fare usually won't work LHR-SFO-LHR). Domestic fares more commonly work in reverse.
- Last, but not least, Don't call the Airline!

A little change of pace as I look to go to TH again in May (depending on whether you're a miles, points or redeemable addict, these may appeal)--seem a bit better deal than all the MADness:
AMS KUL BKK r/t ($2428ai, MH, booked Z/J/Z/Z): 14232 EQM (17.1cpm), 21348 EQP (11.4cpm), 32022 RDM (7.6cpm-with AA PLT boni). 777/738.
FRA AMM BKK r/t ($1782ai, RJ, booked I/I/I/I): 12278 EQM (14.5cpm), 18417 EQP (9.7cpm), 27265 RDM (6.5cpm-with AA PLT boni). Airport appreciation break in AMM. 321/330.

Edited to add: I found the MH fare on the first sample date I tried, 05/30-06/03, +/- a couple of days. But AY is coming in even less, at $2,226 (as are the usual-suspect lesser airlines like MS, CI, SU). LH and LX around the same!

@mecabq: just reran for a PMer and found Aug 14-21, so I suspect they are fairly common. Going only by what I read online, having never been on either AY or MH, I bet the extra $200 on MH is worth the better ride. I'd love to try LX or LH but wrong alliance -- they both fly from ORD, as does RJ, so theres an outside chance something direct may pop up too.

MH fares to LAX
I posted some time ago about low one-way MH fares from certain cities in SE Asia (PNH and REP were the lowest). Those are still available, but I also found (and booked) a one-way HKG-LAX today for approx 1540USD in J. Routing is HKG-NRT on CX (or JL if you prefer, also available), onwards on NRT-LAX on MH. Excellent fare for that route. Availability only on days when MH flies NRT-LAX (operates S, M, W, F). Booked in J, 125% EQMs on AA.
Not the *cheapest* for a mileage run but if you credit to AAdvantage and travel before April 15 you can get double miles. Be sure to register for that promo first via AA.com.

Funny enough, UA lists it as full fare economy :-). 125/150% earning as previously mentioned. Don't know if the fares allow LX routing, but their metal gets 150/150% on UA MP (with better hard product to boot).

I really looked for a LX metal routing for MAD but didn't see one for the $200 and under fares. At least non from ORD.

The date I booked is no longer available but you can replicate on a number of other dates - try May 6 via Expedia or TL. Search for HKG-LAX and select business class as the cabin. First option I see there is a Cathay/Malaysia combo at 1580USD. Looking at ExpertFlyer it looks like MH limits the number of seats that can be booked solely on the NRT-LAX-NRT segments. For example, on my travel date the flight appears sold out (J0 D0) for NRT-LAX, but if you search for KUL-LAX on the same flight it returns wide availability. If you cannot find flights try looking at some other dates bearing in mind they only operate S, M, W, F on the route.
If you REALLY want to backtrack for extra miles that also seems possible - HKG-KUL-(NRT)-LAX. Yowzers. Red-eye on the HKG-KUL segment. Can also get free stopover in NRT!
