Hartley --

Inasmuch as some of the London properties still seem to have a full service lounge open on weekends, could you mention some of the UK Marriotts that have the more limited service you speak of above?

Since many of us are non-UK based, your knowledge would be quite helpful to many of us.

Thanks,

NJ

This is my experience for the first half of the year:

Manchester Airport: Lounge open all weekend for soft drinks, nuts, cookies and coffee (watch the coffee machine, the coffee has been lukewarm for the past few stays). No canapes or breakfast Sat pm, but starts up again Sun pm.

Newcastle Gosforth: Lounge open in the same way that Manchester is, but they serve free wine and beer. Only change has been the removal of hot food and puddings on Friday and Saturday evenings. Not sure on Sundays as we haven't stayed Sunday this year.

I have already given the low down on Bristol. Very poor show there.

Visited West India Quay for a week, business as usual, but they have stopped comp beer and wine.

Will have more info later in the year when we venture up to Scotland, but from the booking "room details" I can see they all seem to be "closed" at weekends. Not sure yet whether that is Bristol closed or Manchester closed!!!

LAX Marriott or Rennaissance Montero

I'll be staying on a Friday night (late arrival) Does either shuttle pick up after 11:00PM and who has comp breakfast or open Concierge Lounge for a Gold Member ??? Opinions on which is better welcome - Thanks

The shuttle runs 24x7 (it's the same shuttle for both).

Sadly, neither lounge is open over the weekend nor is a comp breakfast offered. I find the Ren a nicer property overall, but if you can get a better rate at the FS it's fine as well.

The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel, MI lounge closed (No Coupons, But Sunday branch@Early American Room is great!)

Thanks Hartley!

It seem that this trend has now crossed the pond from here and is spreading.

Could those hotels on the Continent be the next to succumb?

Copehagen is open on the weekends.

Washington Marriott at Metro Center-
Lounge closed on the weekend, but they gave breakfast coupons to be used in the restaurant downstairs. (Marriott gold status)

Does anyone know how the new arrangement at the Marriott Wardman Park in DC is working out? (For those who do not know, they have closed the lounge for breakfast and evening service there, and replaced it with a special room behind the restaurant, that serves only gold and platinum members for buffet breakfast instead of private lounge service, since they claimed that the old lounge, which was less than one year old, was too small.)

VA1379 Jun 15, 2009 2:46 pm

Do they offer anything for evening service from Sun-Thurs nights? I have never stayed at this property, but I am curious about what they do.

I don't know how the Wardman Park is handling evenings, has anyone stayed there since they closed the lounge?

ohmark Jun 15, 2009 3:05 pm

Is the Wardman Park lounge open at all; like for coffee/soda/water? If not, it would be interesting if somebody took a look at the lounge to see what, if anything it is being used for. I know of one Hilton fs property that eliminated the lounge, then turned around and used it for private functions.

USirritated Jun 15, 2009 3:10 pm

It is supposedly open for coffee, tea, and water only, but I have not seen it for myself, that is just what I was told by the attendant who told me it was closing in two days, and what the new arrangement would be. She was being put out to retirement after 14 years.

Zurich Marriott lounge is open on weekends, and I really enjoyed using it during my entire 5 day stay.

leatherheadiowa Jun 30, 2009 9:16 pm

Can anyone tell me what the Kansas city Airport Marriott offer in the lounge and if it is open weekends, and if they offer breakfast coupons? Thanks
