I'm staying at the York Marriott (UK) next weekend and called the hotel to ask if Gold Elites get breakfast and was told yes. The property has no lounge.

Los Angeles Marriott Downtown 7 days

Stayed a couple of weekends ago and they said they'd just recently re-opened the lounge on weekends.

Las Vegas REN

Stayed this past weekend. Lounge closed Friday am until Sunday pm. Two of us arrived separately, both Plats, one of us got breakfast coupons the other was told Marriott required the lounge to be closed on the weekend and prohibited them from providing breakfast coupons. Sunday morning breakfast is buffet only. There are plenty of great deals in Las Vegas so this is our last stay at this hotel. More penny wise pound foolish management.

I'm currently staying at the LAS Marriott (formerly Marriott Suites). They don't have an exec lounge. However, they have a great buffet & you can order off the menu as well, and they do omelettes to order. It's 7days/week. They'll ask for your room # or if you're on the 'list', the list being elite. Your bill comes stamped - 'elite - breakfast included'. Folks, this breakfast is one of the best values in the entire Marriott chain I think.

Cheers.

I am sorry, but I beg to disagree with you. Obviously, it is not a matter of foolish management, it is a matter of poor training or ill informed personnel. If one of you got coupons, and the other did not, obviously management makes coupons available, and obviously Marriott does not prohibit the issuance of breakfast coupons. The desk clerk who said that the lounge is required to be closed on weekends is just plain talking out of their rear end! I have been to many hotels where the lounges are open on weekends or the hotels can and do give out coupons. Otherwise, how do you explain the dichotomy?

This thread is for information on lounges that are OPEN on the weekends. As previously requested, please post lounge closure information in this thread: Concierge Lounge weekend closures and other cutbacks

This discussion about breakfast is interesting and constructive, but it seems to me that it belongs in the "cutbacks" thread rather than this one. Please continue the discussion there and leave this one to the subject of lounges open on weekends. Thanks!

I stand corrected, my apologies.

I know this post is from 5 years ago, but anyone know if it's still true?

About two years ago I stayed there on the weekend, and the lounge was closed and not accessible.

aaupgrade Apr 16, 2010 6:36 am

If you didn't find recent comments about it being open in this thread then it is probably closed - see disclaimer in red bold in first post. The various "Closed" threads (which should probably be merged) yielded the following.

See post 83 in this thread for you answer: More Marriott Cutbacks in Concierge Lounges....

Search is a terrible thing to waste. Advanced search used (because as usual shortcut search failed) with search criteria: Keyword(s) Mayflower Lounge and Find Posts from: a year ago and newer. Yielded only 2 threads both discussing closed lounges and cutbacks. Did another search for Mayflower in the thread linked above and yielded post 83 with the info requested.

I was typing while you were posting. And of course it was your post to which I linked.

Unfortunately this thread is quickly becoming a sea of posts having nothing to do with lounges that are open. And I am guilty of quite a few of those posts.

bdschobel Apr 16, 2010 6:51 am

Oh, it's not that bad yet. Going off on a brief tangent once in a while is tolerable. A few of these off-topic posts could be deleted, but I probably won't bother. Having said that, the thread would be more useful if everybody stayed on-topic.

IMHO, I think there are a lot of people who would never realize that a thread about CONCIERGE LOUNGES OPEN ON WEEKENDS is not an invitation to talk about the reverse, meaning closed on weekends, and also, regarding breakfast coupons, and whatever is related thereto. Also, IMHO, OFTEN (notice that I did not say usually!), and as a matter of normal conversation, when a topic is about something, it is somewhat difficult for the same conversation not to be also about the opposite.

bdschobel Apr 16, 2010 9:24 am

That's a fair point, but let's not compound the problem by going off on yet another tangent! Anyway, the key post in this thread is post #1, which contains a list of hotels that unfortunately has not been updated in over a year.
