Its been hit or miss. On the "miss" you can get breakfast for two as your plat welcome gift.

Checked in Yesterday at the Orlando World and was told that they did not give breakfast coupons anymore to Golds or Plats. They offered to comp my internet (which never happened)

Does anyone really expect the free breakfasts on weekends any more? they have cut out mouthwash, down to single laundry bags, no shower caps even on the elite floors. THe newton Marriott used to offer eggs, sausage and bacon in the lounge for plats and now they only have eggs. If the hotels weren't in such trouble they wouldn't be offering to rollover your excess elite nights to next year. Isn't that a kick?

I will repost what was requested 8 posts before yours:

This discussion about breakfast is interesting and constructive, but it seems to me that it belongs in the "cutbacks" thread rather than this one. Please continue the discussion there and leave this one to the subject of lounges open on weekends. Thanks!

I got full breakfast coupoons from the REN SEA about two weeks ago, but must admit was not expecting it. I would tend to agree that it is an exception anymore. This makes me lean toward Hilton for my lesiure weekend stays.

We recently stayed at the REN Shanghai and the lounge was open all weekend. Not only that, they had a full breakfast, including omelets made to order, and one of the most delightful assortments of food in the morning and evening we've ever seen. The lounge staff ws exemplary and the view from the lounge is breathtaking. We can hardly wait to go back.^^^^^

I have stayed at the REN SEA three times, and each time I have received weekend breakfast coupons due to the lounge being closed. Two of the times the breakfast coupons were offered to me without asking, and once I had to ask for them (and a tiny bit of drama ensued, due to the late hour of my arrival and the newness of the front desk clerk, who turned me down at first, but then asked the night manager when I pressed her on the point). It is a great hotel, I love it there!

It is interesting that the official policy of Marriott Corporate seems to be that not only are lounges not supposed to be open on weekends, but no coupons are supposed to be given out, "2009 Update: Due to the downturn in the economy, Marriott has allegedly put out an memo downgrading and limiting what properties can do. It is highly unlikely that you will find any lounge open on the weekend, and also unlikely you will receive vouchers for breakfast. The few properties that have attempted to "over acheive" and do more, appear to be slapped down by corporate.

With those actions by Marriott, the information in this thread became instantly outdated. While this thread will stick around in the deep recesses of FlyerTalk, It has been retired from "sticky-dom"

Thanks to everyone that helped keep this up to date over the last 4 years, even when it went periods without updates to the front chart. -jas"

HOWEVER, I have FOUND THIS NOT, NOT, NOT TO BE THE CASE! On a recent hotel stay at the New Orleans Marriott I received breakfast coupons for both Saturday and Sunday, at the Washington Marriott I received breakfast coupons for both days, at the Marriott Wardman Park I received breakfast coupons for both days, and at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside I received a breakfast coupon for one out of two weekend days, all since May 2009.

definitely the case at a few Marriotts and JWs I stayed ... I'd say I am 50/50 on this.

Ditto the AMS Marriott. I put it in a review thread of the AMSM, but forgot to post here I think.

Cheers.

That's interesting. In late June it was open 7 days but no breakfast provided on Saturday or Sunday mornings. So you could get a coffee or tea from the machine but nothing else. Also evening food and drinks was only from Sunday evening till Thursday evening.

Maybe some hotels are reversing their policies if the breakfast and evening food was all days.

Or maybe they're matching the Marriott? Don't know. Just worried that Marriott HQ will think both are 'over-achieving' & make them scale back....

Cheers.
