Stayed a week at the JW and the lounge is certainly open on the weekends and generally the quantity and quality of the breakfast and evening selections remained as good as I recall from previous visits. Evening treats were similar to past stays and very tasty while the hot breakfast options may have been scaled back slightly.

The one thing that has changed is the 'afternoon tea' which used to be a nice treat with sandwiches and sweets has been downgraded to plates of cookies and little more.

The Blackstone Renaissance in Chicago is closed on weekends.

Really? I am at this hotel right now, and I was told on Thursday that they still give a free breakfast on the weekend. (I got one on Saturday morning.)

Had an in-depth discussion at check-in on Saturday because I was surprised. Was told that this is part of a consistency initiative for Marriott-owned properties. I pursued the question of whether this is an edict or a guideline. Was told the hotel would like to continue to offer the benefit, but could not.

I indicated that the hotel's elite-friendly approach is a reason I had returned but that this policy change would probably deter future visits. The front desk manager did not dispute that other Platinums and Golds may have similar reactions once they learn of the change.

The first post indicates:

I am not sure where the Marriott Canal Place hotel is in New Orleans. There is a Marriott at the convention center??? There is a Westin at Canal Place - the shopping center.

But the lounge at the New Orleans Marriott at 555 Canal St, New Orleans, is open on the weekend for Breakfast only. Closes at about Noon to 1pm on Sat and Sun - but it is open.

The JW Marriott is not open on the weekend, but you get breakfast coupons for Sat and Sun am in the restaurant.

San Francisco Marriott
 

First post indicates:

California....San Fran.....Marriott San Fran.............CLOSED

The lounge at the San Francisco Marriott at 55 Fourth St, San Francisco, is open on the Weekend both for breakfast and evening. I think this is due to the large number of weekend convention groups and large number of Asia customers.

Sydney Marriott
 

The Sydney Marriott at 36 College St is also open on the weekend both morning and evening. Free self serve drinks and wine.

The other Marriott Sydney Harbour Marriott at Circular Quay is the one referenced in post 1.

Phoenix Airport Marriott
 

Closed on weekends. Also closed for the 2 weeks over the Xmas/New Years holiday period.

The top post list has not been updated since May 7, 2007 - going on 2 years. Maybe this sticky thread needs to be deleted and a new one created?

Orlando Downtown Marriott is no longer open on weekends.

lounge closed...no coupons....nada on weekends....WAS recognized as PP when i went to challange why I wasn't offered my gift, but got a CL room.

New York......NY City......Marriott East Side..............CLOSED (opened Sun afternoon)

European FS Marriotts closing lounges on weekend
 

Appears the European FS Marriotts are closing the lounges on the weekend. At the Brussels Marriott. Lounge abruptly closed for the weekend. Told Amsterdam was doing he same. Decision announced to staff just the day of the closing - so this was abrupt.

To the forum monitor - I suggest you remove this thread as a sticky so a new thread can be open and updated. The first post has not been updated in almost 2 years - so no reason to keep this a sticky.

Given that Marriott is clamping down on properties that used to keep CLs open on weekends, the list is going to get much shorter. Have to agree that it might not be worth a stickey anymore.

(And no mention of any coupons or discounts on breakfast for a gold member)
