What is wrong with FS hotels and MR during the week?
I'm just frustrated and annoyed with the weekend changes, with the recent program changes overall and its gotten to a point where its (Marriott) is now 3rd in my preference (by hotel chain) behind Starwood and Hyatt even for weekday stays. Its just one of those deals where I get the feeling, Marriott likes my business travel and dollars during the week but when the weekend hits they don't want anything to do with me or my personal money. I take offense to that and for the most part am just moving on. Yes there will be instances where I "have to" stay at a Marriott and will but those are really far and few between |

Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center's executive lounge has no staff on duty on weekend, but is accessible with your room key. On weekend, there are plenty of soft drinks, water, and some snacks. Coffee machine that makes various types of coffee is also available, along with 3 computers with free internet access and one printer.
On weekend, when the lounge has no staff, free breakfast was offered to me at check-in on the second floor restaurant. |
Both the Brusselss Marriott FS and the Amsterdam Marriott FS executive lounges have no staff on duty on weekends, but are accessible with your room key. On weekends, there are plenty of soft drinks, water, and some snacks. Coffee machine that makes various types of coffee is also available, along with 2 computers with free internet access.
We received Plat upgrade to Executive Level at both properties and at the Brussels Marriott those staying on the Executive Level are invited to have breakfast in the restaurant since no breakfast is served in the Executive Lounge. I don't know if that same courtesy is extended to Plats staying in non-EL rooms. We ate breakfast out both on Sat and Sun in Amsterdam so didn't find out the policy since we knew we were going to be out and about and were not planning to eat in the hotel. |
So if a particular hotel in the UK is advertising Executive rooms for sale at the weekends which includes access to the Club lounge - I take it that the lounges must be open?
If not they are breaking the trades description act and can be sued I imagine? |
I'm not a lawyer, so I can't comment on suing them. But I would guess that the lounge will most likely be open. (If I remember correctly, most of the hotel's I have stayed at had their lounges open even on the weekends.)
But with that said, there is a difference between a lounge being open (i.e. you can get into the lounge with your key) and a lounge with meal service or an attendant. As mjtx mentions, some lounges while "open" on the weekend, may not have the same level of service on the weekends as they do during the week. There are other posters here with far more experience at UK hotel's than myself, but the last hotel I stayed at there, the Windsor/Heathrow or used to be called the Windsor/Slough Marriott, kept its lounge open, but didn't provide meal services on the weekends. |

Of course I was being a bit over dramatic with the suing threat - I guess that would explain why they allow access but can get away with offering no service. |
Concierge Lounge at Reinessance LHR has no stuff on duty during weekends but you can go and grab soft drinks. They don't serve alcohol in the lounge Fri-Sun.
Amman Marriott - the lounge is closed for renovation. I was given letter at check-in. "Kindly note that our Executive Lounge will be closed for the coming days due to continuous maintenance and construction work in total hotel. During this period we will be more than pleased to serve you Buffet Breakfast in our main restaurant on the 1st floor. As for the evening service, which starts at 6:00PM and 9:00PM we will prorvide you with complimentaryr voucher to be used at Sports Bar only that includes one alcoholic drink (Wine or Beer) and a small snack." It could have been worst :) |
