NEW ALABAMA HOTEL - Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center
 

I just stayed in the brand NEW Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, which was opened to the public in February/March 2008. My schedule did not allow me to visit the Concierge Lounge while I was there, but I was told that it is nice, and also that it is NOT open after breakfast service on Friday AM through cocktail service on Sunday PM. However, as a Platinum member, I asked at the desk for breakfast over the weekend? I was CHEERFULLY immediately offered three coupons for two people each (the third coupon was due to Monday, September 1 being Labor Day) to be used for the breakfast buffet, which is fantastic! It is definitely a full buffet, with egg station, cold and hot cereal, fruits, breakfast meats, waffles, muffins, breads, and more, everything fresh as can be, all open every day from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM (officially they close at 10, but they do not usually take the buffet down until about 10:20 or 10:30, because they set up the lunch buffet for 11 AM).

NO Concierge/Executive Lounge on weekends, breakfast coupons instead.

PS. As a platinum, they already had a corner two room suite blocked out for me before I got there, and asked me if I wanted to wait while they cleaned one on the 10th floor, or would I want the identical corner suite which was immediately ready on the 5th floor.

PPS. Valet parking is available for $16, but facing the front of the hotel, the street to the left, there are almost always street legal spaces available, which are free, at no charge, and in Montgomery, it is legal to park against the curb, and in the center of the street, between the lines. I self parked on the street all four days I was there, never more than 75 yards from the front door of the hotel, and saved $64!

Marriott Del Mar, lounge closed weekends, no coupons.

Asked CL staff to confirm this which they did by ringing front desk for us. Got back to the hotel after some retail therapy Friday to find voicemail message from CL staff informing us that although they wouldn't be in, they had arranged, as a one off, a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant on their behalf for my wife and myself on the Saturday morning,

Irvine Marriott - Closed on Weekends but TFB (Two for Breakfast) credit given for Gold/Plat. Beware that two buffets will exceed the credit amount though by about $3. Lounge is unlocked all weekend for sodas and fruit. Lounge DOES NOT open on Sunday evening.

ABQ (Louisiana St.) closed weekends. Vouchers offered.

Calif San Francisco (55 Fourth St) OPEN!

Hi there,

An update on the Renaissance Brussels, as I'm staying here Thu - Sun.

Lounge is closed on the weekend, but I got a voucher for a free drink at the bar for both Fri and Sat (lounge opens again Sunday night) and they are giving me free breakfast (which my rate already includes ...)

Strangely enough or maybe not, it's only 1 free drink for me, none for my wife with no status. I didn't bother checking with the Front Desk to see if I could negotiate a second free drink.

And, for the point hungry ... they hand out a Sudoku puzzle every week with a chance to win 5'000 points.

RIC- (West End/Glen Allen) - CL Closed; coupons

BUF - CL not open due to renovation. Coupons, including weekend.

I was at the San Francisco Marriott (the one at 4th and Mission) last weekend. Lounge was open all weekend, breakfast buffet, afternoon hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, evening dessert selection Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning breakfast included scrambled eggs in addition to the hard-boiled eggs available on Saturday and Sunday.

Front desk clerk informed me that lounge was open on the weekend with a big smile and great enthusiasm.

Good experience.
