The answer may (I'm not sure) depend on which kind of points+cash you're referring to.
The original Marriott points+cash was nothing more than mixing some nights on points and other nights with cash. But since this is a "stay" promo, it's unclear how they'd count that, if that stay is a mix of paid and award nights.
The new Marriott points+cash (where both points and cash are used for 1 night) is definitely a points stay, with a discount on the points payable with cash.
Paid stays means it has to be a paid rate, not an award rate where you pay for something else (a discount on the award, a meal, whatever).

Have a 3 night stay this weekend that I may switch 1 night to a different property to get the extra points, but not sure if my cash+points rate at my original hotel will even earn the bonus.

It's looking more and more like this promotion is all we will see this summer. A far cry from the Megabonus promotions of the past (which really did challenge us to stay a lot of nights). The days of receiving windfall bonus points for staying 30 nights are over it appears.
Hopefully the fall/winter promotions are a little more exciting that what we have seen so far this year.

I had one "cash and points stay" and one using a cert last month, and neither qualified for the points.

I was registered to obtain 10,000 Marriott points + 2000 United miles upon completion. I had completed the promotion 3 weeks ago and had the 10,000 Marriott points posted but did not have the United 2,000 miles posted to my account. I called customer service and they told me those miles would post 4-6 after "the promotion" ended, which is September 5th. So don't expect those until around October if that was your bonus. Maybe others have got this already. The rep I spoke with hadn't even heard of that promotion and had to look it up and talk to someone else, which I thought was odd.

Still getting 5K extra points every week from the Hilton double points promo Haven't stayed in a Marriott all summer except awards.
I would have never guessed how much these promos drive behavior but I'm the poster child right now.

Does check-in on Sep 5 and check-out on Sep 6 count for this promotion?

Funny coincidence. I got an email today reminding me about the Summer promotion, and that I still have time to complete it, within a few hours of when my final 2000 + 2000 points posted. (Ie, I had already completed my last stay in the Summer Promotion a couple days ago, but it took a couple days to register as such.)
