If you're not going to be in the room that much, there's your winner!

Recent Sheraton reviews are scaring me a bit.

Have you clicked on that thread and asked questions, about your particular concerns?

I live in NYC and had to stay at the Sheraton during the Hurricane/Blackout a few years ago. We had a perfectly fine stay.

In terms of tourist attractions, the Sheraton is much closer to most places (Central Park, St Patricks Cathedral, Rockefeller Center) than the Westin or W which are just really just close to Times Square. Since you're coming in February, the shorter walk will definitely help.

To get to the other parts of town (Ground Zero, Little Italy, High Line), both have subways and taxi access, though I'd definitively say it would be easier to get a taxi from the Sheraton vs. W or Westin Times Square.

I stayed at the Sheraton TS this past May and the Westin TS a year or two before that. The Sheraton is just fine, and the subway options from there are great. Westin is in a MUCH busier location (you can step right onto 42nd St. with its throngs or we would always use 43rd which was not so chaotic).

What things in the reviews are troubling you about the Sheraton? Perhaps we can put your mind at ease.

Ok, just went over to Tripadvisor to read recent reviews. Yikes. Our room was not dirty, nor did it have lice. (lice? that's a new one - they usually complain about bedbugs)...anyway, all I can say is we did not have any issues of that nature. Agree the rooms are small. Agree the location is great. You have to do what makes you comfortable. I'd stay there again.

reasons to stick with the Sheraton New York

Dude, none of the options are any better - unless you have 30,000 SPG points to burn! (My personal preference is the Westin Grand Central, but for 12,000 SPG points the Sheraton is better value and better located).

My advice - stick with the Sheraton, and contact them in advance with a list of requests. (I will PM you a local contact).

The reasons to stay at the Sheraton New York (IMO) are:
- decent SPG lounge;
- great fitness area for you;
- easy access to everything (incl. MTA).

We've stayed there 3 times in the past year. No complaints at all other than the room is not available a second before official checkin time, no matter how crowded or uncrowded the hotel and the city are.

I suggest reading the Westin Grand Central master thread. That thread will have more details about the property.

Very few suites at this property. Corner room is usually where you end up as a Platinum. I have had the suite upgrade a couple of times - pretty decent room by NYC standards, but generic Westin suite.

I started a thread for the new 4P Downtown. Maybe it can get added to post 2?

But the TL;DR version: nicest 4P I've been to in Manhattan in terms of space and feel, still with teething issues / closed F&B outlets, you have to really want to be in that part of Manhattan to make it worthwhile.

I stayed at the LeMeridian for the first time in 4yrs. The rooms are slightly upgraded, but still no air conditioning in individual rooms! I'll do a few more stays there till summer when it'll probably be too hot. Make sure you get a high room. First room was in the teens and the street was loud. I asked to be moved, they put me in the high 20's which was better.

Sucks that all the Cat 5s in NYC are Four Points with tiny rooms or the 2 Sheratons...which are okay I suppose
