Nights available on points:
  • Open up 12 months out
  • Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
  • City Tax of 400 XPF for each night

Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
  • Round trip $350-600 per person
  • Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
  • Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
  • The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
    • If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
    • Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
  • Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
    • They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
  • Lap infants are charged 10%
  • Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
  • In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
  • Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.

Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
  • 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
  • Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.

Rooms
Renovated Rooms:
101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated
504 - Reefside
Royal Estate (currently under renovations)

Platinum Benefits (2022)
  • Breakfast for two (property is firm on this and will not provide free breakfast for any additional adults in the room)
  • Welcome amenity in the room
    • Bottle of Champagne
    • Light snacks / fruit
  • 10% off products with the St. Regis Resort logo at the gift shop
  • 20% off Bloody Mary Cocktails at the Aparima Bar
  • 20% off Cocktail of the Day
  • St. Regis Sarong when you spend 15,000 xpf on products at the spa
  • Bonus points when purchasing massages at the spa

Daily Gifts
  • 8-night stay April 2022
    • Day 1 - stuffed animals for kids
    • Day 1 - Large tote bag with St. Regis Bora Bora logo w/ waterproof lining in room
    • Day 2 - Day 7 Tahitian Oils next to bed
    • Day 3 - Two fridge magnets

Item you can request for free
  • Pool floats can be loaned out from the main pool
  • Snorkel gear
  • Microwave can be put in room by room service free of charge
  • Extra small bottles of water can be requested by the housekeeper while they are cleaning
  • Coffee service to the room from the butler before 12pm
  • Two pressed items per person any time of the day
  • For infants
    • Cribs
    • Large bottles of water for formula
  • For Kids
    • Free meals at all restaurants
    • Free ice cream
    • Free room service (even items from the regular menu)

Things to bring
  • Water shoes can be helpful in the lagoon and on some excursions
  • Alcohol
    • Mini fridge is empty and can store champagne
    • Boxed wine is light weight and stores easily in fridge
    • If you don't plan to spend a few hours on the main island you can purchase fresh juices as mixers
    • Pre-mixed canned cocktails (like cutwater spirits) seemed to be popular at the main beach. Bring your own insulated tumbler and ask for a bucket of ice.

I will say that in my travels to 113 countries, countless 5* Marriott Resorts, and this being my second time in French Polynesia that I am absolutely gobsmacked in a delightful way with my stay here. The level of service was above and beyond from arrival at the airport all the way to my villa with a personalized tour of the grounds and an explanation of everything including the staff's favorite recommendations off the menu. I don't normally expect people to go out of the way to learn Sign Language since I am Deaf but this resort went above and beyond by learning basic phrases such as Hello, Good Day, Thank You, and Good Evening so far and I have not been here for 24 hours yet.

AMAZING!

I originally booked a Reefside Villa and was upgraded to an Overwater Superior at the end of the dock with a gorgeous view of the sunset and Mountain Otemanu. The Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Status recognition from the staff and the General Manager was very warm and inviting (why can't other 5* Marriott affiliates follow the St. Regis Bora Bora on hospitality?). There was a bottle of Champagne and two water bottles along with yummy coconut and french macarons waiting for me.

As for Covid-19, all guests and staff are required to wear masks in public areas such as restaurants, the lobby, and indoors. They provide each guest with a welcome kit that includes gloves, sanitizer, 2 blue masks, and a locally crafted cotton mask.

I'll share more photos later as I want to get off my laptop and explore more of this resort and make arrangements for some scuba diving.
Odd question, but do they still provide beach bags in the room, or has that been taken away due to COVID-19? Asking so I know what to pack Thank you!

Hope you're having a ton of fun there, and sick upgrade! I was offered some fire sale paid upgrade offers over email the other day, about ~75% less than what I normally see here. I'm guessing the resort is pretty empty?

La Orana from the literal definition of Paradise.

There’s nothing odd about asking what the current amenities are at the StR Bora Bora.

The beach bag is provided in the villa and here’s the welcome kit (there are different versions) that includes gloves, sanitizer, 2 disposable masks, and a locally crafted cotton mask that is tasteful.

It’s very quiet here and everyone knows each other from dining and other events on the property. The staff is wonderful and I am glad that I splurged for this holiday before I start my MBA program in two weeks.

Covid-19 test requirements have been simplified with the acceptance of the rapid Molecular RT-PCR test. These tests do not require a laboratory and maybe be processed in a medical facility in as little as one hour! The key points are that test must be a Molecular RT-PCR and not an antibody, antigen or serology (blood) test.

Proof of a negative Covid-19 test (RT-PCR or PCR) molecular laboratory or rapid test, such as the Abbott ID Now Molecular test carried out within three days prior to their international air departure (e.g. if the flight departs on a Monday at 11pm, the passenger needs to take the test the preceding Friday). Antigen and antibody tests not accepted.

So it sounds they accept rapid test???
Well that was short lived. This is now on Air Tahiti Nui website:

Please note that Antigen, Antibody, Self Testing or Rapid Tests of any kind, including rapid RT-PCR tests such as the Abbott ID* (ID Now Rapid tests accepted up to August 8th) are not accepted by the Health Authorities of French Polynesia and aircraft boarding will be denied.

There is an Incident right now in Tahiti with a cruise ship that might have unknowingly infected several other people in Bora Bora and Tahiti so they’re locking things down particularly with the rapid testing.

On that note it’s time for me to do my government mandated 4th day PCR testing and give it to the front desk to send to the lab on the main island.

I hope you're having a lot of fun! Can you let us know what type of restrictions are in place now? Are the snorkel, parasailing and other tours still operating? Anything you can let us know would be great so we can decide if it is still worth it to go next week. Thanks!

Let's just say this is one of my best ever redemption of 340k Marriott Points and 1 Night Cash. The Marriott Bonvoy Recognition here has been phenomenal though it's very true nothing comes cheaply here in Bora Bora. Everything is open and I am booked for a two tank dive tomorrow, a sailing on Saturday, and I am thinking maybe fishing on Sunday before I leave.

It's "business as usual" and they're taking sanitary measures very seriously by disinfecting every table, stand up paddle, canoe, chair, and everything even though their covid-19 rates are very low. I am looking forward to returning to the French Polynesia again soon with my siblings I hope.

You can reach out to the Concierge team if you have any other questions that I can't answer.

Intl359Widget, thank you for all the information and reports. If you had to guess, could you estimate what the occupancy of the StR Bora Bora is looking like? I have heard that the Conrad has about 30% occupancy since re-opening but that their numbers are higher than others as they took the lion's share of bookings from the Le Méridien closure.

Also, now there are seven new cases in the past week and just this evening some government officials are calling for a seven day quarantine in the Tahiti main island for all new international arrivals. Any chatter about that at the resort yet?

For those booked to go in September/October check your flights. Air Tahiti Nui has now re-routed all but three of the weekly flights to avoid the U.S. and connect through Vancouver instead all the way until November. That represented ~60% reduction in flight capacity to and from the U.S. Air France is still considering whether for the month of September whether they continue to operate their Papette to Paris flights via LAX or also re-route them through Canada. The problem being is that connecting Europeans are having issues and delays getting the connection/transit visa for the Untied States entry to connect at LAX. If the seven day quarantine is instated it is most certain they will continue to bypass the U.S. as American's are far less likely to visit Tahiti if the seven day quarantine becomes effective but that is definitely still up in the air. I am told a decision by Air France will be made by Friday of next week. One word to the wise, if Air France AF76 does start operating again from LAX-PPT think twice if you are planning on arriving in PPT on AF76 at 5:15am and want to catch an 8:00 A.M. Air Tahiti flight to the islands as I expect the AF flight being significantly delayed due to the inevitable delays at LAX that connecting European's will experience due to the connecting visa and health screening requirements. AF will likely hold the flight as much as three hours to accommodate the connecting passengers which translates to a very delayed arrival in to PPT.

The good news is with all the International flight shuffling and re-routing many of the Air Tahiti inter-island flights have opened up and even a few have been added (noted by a four digit VT flight number) so there are more options for most however the 8am flight from Papette to Bora Bora continues to be elusive especially later in the weeks.

I couldn't possibly say but I would guesstimate 40-50% occupancy based on what I am seeing since there are a good amount of families and friends traveling together here. I did get to stop by the Conrad yesterday on my way back from scuba diving and was very impressed by the location. I did not see a lot of people there though.

I have not heard anything specific on the quarantine situation but based on most of the chatter this applies to non-EU citizens.

It would appear that the U.S. is still not allowing Europeans in so Air France, Air Tahiti Nui, and French Bee will need to continue to use Vancouver as a transit point for re-fueling and crew change. I would postulate that if the seven day quarantine restriction came into effect, Air Tahiti Nui will pull out of LAX or reduce their 3x weekly service to 1x.

I've been watching the flight availability for a short trip to the Marquesas Islands and saw an extra section added for the 13th so I'll try and head out there as soon as I can.

Perks of flying #Standby is you have to roll with the loads but make sure you don't get stranded on one of the most remote outposts in the world.

Intl359Widget Glad you made it out there and are having a fabulous time! If I could trouble you with a quick request: could you possibly ask for information on the Le Méridien renovation from the staff? As a sister property, they might know if the renovation is serious, has actually started and will actually deliver or if this is in fact a softer way of saying that the hotel is closing for good.

Any info you can glean would be great. Thanks so much - and stay healthy!

I'd be delighted to ask and I did see them work on rehabilitating most of the overwater bungalows thatched roofs while I was out on the lagoon so fingers crossed because I would love to return to Bora Bora one day with the plus one (whoever she is).

I also have a flight from SFO to PPT on the 18th but am having issues finding an ideal way to get tested before. Right now, it seems that official channels direct towards this testing center in LA: https://www.goodlifemedicalservices.com It's a new joint venture between a doctor and a nightclub hospitality operator.... In the SF area, I can't find a place where I can simply get the needed test unfortunately like GoHealth.

I believe that the vendor that Air Tahiti Nui is recommending their passengers use also offers a home testing option where you can FedEx directly to the lab for a quicker turnaround time.

I've contacted Good Life Medical (the recommended vendor) and they said they don't service anyone out of state, even with the home testing kit. You will have to travel there to take the test, which is what I'm doing.

Could you recommend a news source to read up more on the changes in covid-19 restrictions in French Polynesia? I'm due to depart in less than 2 weeks.
