Nights available on points:
  • Open up 12 months out
  • Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
  • City Tax of 400 XPF for each night

Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
  • Round trip $350-600 per person
  • Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
  • Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
  • The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
    • If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
    • Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
  • Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
    • They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
  • Lap infants are charged 10%
  • Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
  • In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
  • Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.

Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
  • 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
  • Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.

Rooms
Renovated Rooms:
101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated
504 - Reefside
Royal Estate (currently under renovations)

Platinum Benefits (2022)
  • Breakfast for two (property is firm on this and will not provide free breakfast for any additional adults in the room)
  • Welcome amenity in the room
    • Bottle of Champagne
    • Light snacks / fruit
  • 10% off products with the St. Regis Resort logo at the gift shop
  • 20% off Bloody Mary Cocktails at the Aparima Bar
  • 20% off Cocktail of the Day
  • St. Regis Sarong when you spend 15,000 xpf on products at the spa
  • Bonus points when purchasing massages at the spa

Daily Gifts
  • 8-night stay April 2022
    • Day 1 - stuffed animals for kids
    • Day 1 - Large tote bag with St. Regis Bora Bora logo w/ waterproof lining in room
    • Day 2 - Day 7 Tahitian Oils next to bed
    • Day 3 - Two fridge magnets

Item you can request for free
  • Pool floats can be loaned out from the main pool
  • Snorkel gear
  • Microwave can be put in room by room service free of charge
  • Extra small bottles of water can be requested by the housekeeper while they are cleaning
  • Coffee service to the room from the butler before 12pm
  • Two pressed items per person any time of the day
  • For infants
    • Cribs
    • Large bottles of water for formula
  • For Kids
    • Free meals at all restaurants
    • Free ice cream
    • Free room service (even items from the regular menu)

Things to bring
  • Water shoes can be helpful in the lagoon and on some excursions
  • Alcohol
    • Mini fridge is empty and can store champagne
    • Boxed wine is light weight and stores easily in fridge
    • If you don't plan to spend a few hours on the main island you can purchase fresh juices as mixers
    • Pre-mixed canned cocktails (like cutwater spirits) seemed to be popular at the main beach. Bring your own insulated tumbler and ask for a bucket of ice.

Ice and Fridge

Does anyone know if the resort has ice machines you can get your own ice? Similar to Moana and Thalasso.

Also do the rooms have mini fridges. Specifically the lagoon view beachside villa. Can you have them empty the mini fridge to put your own stuff in?

TIA

Since your question is about the Reefside/Beachside villas, the answer is no, there are not any ice machines on that side of the property. However, to make up for it, the resort will bring complementary ice buckets any time, day or night, that you request it and it usually is pretty quick. Taking everything out of the mini fridge to use it during your stay is no problem either.

Thank you for your reply. Does the resort have ice machines anywhere on the property that I can access? I usually need a lot of ice in my room and find it easier to get myself. I could easily ride the bike to go get it if that’s an option.

I recall they used to have ice machines on two of the wings of the overwater villas but can't recall if they are still there...Was just there last month but my memory is a blur.

They really have no clue how long this thing is going to last. I predict longer than 3 months. It may be longer.

Just a quick update on current timelines. Most of the larger five star luxury properties on Bora Bora, including St. Regis, are still targeting an April 1st reopening. Other luxury resorts such as the Pearl Resorts on Bora Bora and Taha'a however are looking at a May 1st restart.

Air France was planning on resuming flights from Paris to Papette via LAX (as opposed to YVR) on April 1st but that has just now been pushed to May 1st however that is more dependent on the U.S. policy regarding passenger transit than any of the France mandated halt of tourism.

Anyone have a recent DP on a flight scheduled out of LAX? Curious if they are canceling those or giving you an option to get to YVR?

Air France (as well as the Canadian gov't regulations) will not let passengers start or end their journey in YVR for AF074 CDG-PPT and AF075 PPT-CDG. Passengers are allowed to deplane but are held in a sterile area in the customs area of the YVR airport but it's literally just a cramped waiting room with access to bathrooms only (no lounge, shops, amenities, ect). Air France owed me a revenue business class ticket on a LAX-PPT leg that had been paid for a while ago and after much back and forth they re-booked me on LAX-CDG-YVR-PPT. I had used old AF credits to pay so didn't want more AF credit. I have heard of others convincing AF to rebook on TN but they wouldn't do it for me. It was all in business but I would absolutely NOT do it again. The CDG-YVR-PPT was particularly long and not pleasant and that was in the front of the plane.

Dave, I didn't answer your question as to how AF is handling those pax booked in or out of LAX if and when there flight is cancelled. The answer is that it depends who you get. AF has call centers in France, Netherlands, Chille, Mauritius and Australia and while they are all supposed to follow the same script they do not. The best advice is do not call until the flight is actually cancelled which normally takes a week or so after they stop selling the flight. If it's a revenue ticket they will offer a refund to original form of payment or in some cases offer to book in the same inventory class of service (not just cabin) with no difference of fare. They used to do same cabin (regardless of inventory) but that was squashed late last year. If it's a reward booking they normally will only offer a refund of points and taxes/fees to original form of payment and then you are on your own to book a new award seat. AF is very much a HUCA type operation and trying at different times of day and night can get very different results.

I used to prefer AF over TN when flying from Tahiti to and from the U.S. as in my opinion their hard product is superior and the soft products are mostly comparable. Obviously with the U.S. pandemic restrictions AF has not been an option for about a year now but I have booked a number of flights hoping it will come back soon but always end up reverting back to TN. If I had to guess I think AF will resume the PPT-LAX flights sometime between May and July. I could see them actually adding a PPT-LAX dedicated once a week rotation (in addition to the CDG-YVR-PPT) for the summer travel season even if FP reopens and demand returns (ie the pandemic settles down) but the U.S. ban on transiting passengers remains. AF is getting killed by TN for passenger traffic and the only thing that keeps them flying CDG-PPT via Canada is the freight advanage they have flying a 777 vs TN's 789.

Originally had a booking for Feb that I then pushed back to April. Just got word from the St Regis that the leisure travel ban to FP is going to be extended through April. Will attempt to move everything to May for now if I can.

Was it an award stay? I am curious if they are cancelling and refunding you, or if they are simply letting you move the reservation to another date?

I have an award stay in late May which is in peril and I have already paid to upgrade to overwater. Therefore I fully expect the St Regis to move my dates instead of cancelling my reservation and letting me search for award availability which doesn’t exist.

Air France has just cancelled all PPT to/from USA until mid-may.

French Polynesia Government Officials are suggesting a compromise to open in May that would only allow people with vaccinations (at least 14 days prior to arrival) to enter the country for Tourism. It's only a proposal at this point.

St Regis still is planning for a May 1 reopen and while I am cautious optimistic it will stick I am thinking May 15th might be looking more likely.

I will think positive thoughts for you, but with your update I am less positive my mid-June trip will happen. ;(

I already have my first vaccination and will have my second long before my stay in late May early June.

The French are pushing this island nation towards independence. Seriously cases were low in Tahiti and they were requiring guest to test prior to arrival. I feel really bad for the island whose entire economy relies on tourism. I am someone who take covid and government mask mandates very seriously. However this has gone too far. Clear overreach. The data on the ground should drive these decisions. Fully vaccinated travelers should be allowed to travel.
