Booking
Nights available on points:
- Open up 12 months out
- Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
- City Tax of 400 XPF for each night
Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
- Round trip $350-600 per person
- Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
- Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
- The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
- They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
- Lap infants are charged 10%
- Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
- In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
- Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.
Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
- 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
- Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.
Rooms
Renovated Rooms:
101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated
504 - Reefside
Royal Estate (currently under renovations)

- Boxed wine is light weight and stores easily in fridge
- If you don't plan to spend a few hours on the main island you can purchase fresh juices as mixers
- Pre-mixed canned cocktails (like cutwater spirits) seemed to be popular at the main beach. Bring your own insulated tumbler and ask for a bucket of ice.
- Mini fridge is empty and can store champagne

So sick of properties trying to have it both ways and won't support those that do--even if I have to mattress run to keep platinum as a result.

Attitudes like this upset me. They want the added business of belonging to the SPG program (i.e. When we go to BB, I had planned on staying at the StR instead of the FS because I want SPG points and benefits) without actually providing the benefits. It's similar to the way the StR in Punta Mita operates. They, again, want the added business of belonging to the program (frankly that property is only on my radar because it's a StR/SPG) without adhering to one of the strongest selling points of the program in no blackout dates.

I was upgraded to their best 1br suite...
Breakfast = decent buffet.
Bora Bora was great, though, it gets a little ridiculous spending more than 3 days there in a lagoon festooned with honeymooners in overwater bungalows. If I went back I'd skip around the islands more.

is there a reasonably priced way of doing that?

You can't win every time, but decrying the StR Bora Bora for not being more amenable to every SPG perk is ridiculous. It's a business, and it behaves in the manner in which it is allowed to make money as its owners best see fit. If you don't like that, then don't attempt to stay there. It NOT being in SPG wouldn't give you any more perks either, after all.

Diving center/options from the StR Bora Bora?
Thanks for the upgrade info for the StR Bora Bora. Nothing surprising there. Of course, we always avoid the summer/high season, anyway, so perhaps we'll luck out and get an upgrade. If not, I'll still be in a Deluxe Overwater Villa and still be pleased.
Any info on any dive center or the dive options from the StR? I cannot locate any information on the StR website about diving, which seems surprising. I emailed the property directly but surprisingly still have not received a response. Perhaps Starwood Lurker can assist with some info?
The only reason for us to visit the StR Bora Bora is to scuba dive. I'm not built to spend hours and hours just lazing around looking at pretty scenery; I need to do something!

I think the Tahiti Air passes are actually reasonably priced.

Hey everyone,
I am curious about the Deluxe Overwater One Bedroom Villa at the StR Bora Bora. Anyone who can share details, I'd be grateful.
Specifically:
(1) Does the air con work well? I know of issues at overwater bungalows in the Maldives, so I'm curious if the same issue is true in Bora Bora? I like it cold (<69 F), so I'd want to make sure this will be attainable.
(2) Does the Deluxe villa look onto the island peak for which Bora Bora is famous?
(3) Has anyone done diving through the StR? We are expert level divers, and we want to make sure the diving options are suitable, either through the resort or through another outfit as needed.
(4) What is the SPG Plat benefit here? Do you get free buffet breakfast? Do you get upgraded a category sometimes?
(5) What is the high season here? What is low season? Shoulder season? Want to get an idea of when we can go with great diving but without the massive crowds.
Thanks!

(2) Deluxe Overwater Villas have view of Mt. Otemanu from patio. But personally, I liked the view of the lagoon from Superior Overwater Villa better. (Stayed #319 SOV and #208 DOV)
(3) I have not.
(4) I believe you can choose breakfast as platinum benefit.. I wasn't plat at the time I stayed there, but my booking included breakfast as package. You will feel sick of having same buffet by 3rd day. Ask server to get you something else from kitchen.. Egg benedict was very nice.
(5) May thru October would be high season, since that's the winter in South Pacific (Dry season). Although you may not get an upgrade, I would suggest you to visit during high season. First, you don't want the bad weather ruin your vacation. Second, speaking from my experience, the resort seemed to be very understaffed during low season, often requiring 1-2 hr of wait to get something done.

(1) A/C worked well. Sliding door to outside patio has a sensor, so the A/C shuts down itself when you open the door. It gets back on when you close the door.

Delighted to hear that OW villas have good air con. That was my biggest worry.

I'd like to have the SPG Hotel Coordinators look into this. Hopefully, they simply used a poor choice of words to explain that they will probably be sold out during high season. Otherwise, they need to be brought into compliance like all other SPG-participating properties.

Looking to book a trip in mid November, but wondering if I should book with my spg amex card. My total for the hotel will be approximately $7,000 usd, which can give me 14,000 points, is it worth it to pay the ~$200 in fees? Will there be any other fees besides the foreign transaction fee?
Also, did you guys pay for meals in the hotel with a no forex fee card? I have a CSP that I plan on using for dining, but not sure if there will be any other fees.
Thank you!!

Taking care of the butler(s) at SRBB
I'm headed here in a few months and have never had a butler so I was wondering if I could get some advice on what might be deemed customary to tip. I don't know if the same individual will be assigned to use for the duration so do you tip daily, end of stay, etc?
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I would use CSP, AMEX PLT, Citi Prestige or Citi Premier (assuming you have 3X on travels) to pay the room bill. As to the meals at the property, I always signed it to my room charges to accrue SPG points.
