Booking
Nights available on points:
- Open up 12 months out
- Availability seems to open up five weeks out.
Fees when booking on points:
- City Tax of 400 XPF for each night
Transportation
PPT-BOB Flights:
- Round trip $350-600 per person
- Premium ticket includes more checked baggage allowance, priority boarding (sit on the left side for island views), and drink on board.
- Air Tahiti is strict with their baggage allowance. Excess baggage is $1.5 per pound over the limit.
- The airline is known to weigh hand luggage if it has wheels or is larger than your typical backpack or purse.
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Carry-on items do not seemed to be tagged so the gate agents do not know what bags have been checked
- If you hand luggage is weighed and is over the limit it will need to be checked or items will need to be removed and relocated to your checked luggage.
- Checked bags are weighed at the BOB airport for your PPT return flight
- They seem to not be as strict with charging for excess weight
- Lap infants are charged 10%
- Check the minimum connection time. If you arrive early Air Tahiti is likely to move you to an early flight based upon availability free of charge.
- In March 2022 the domestic security was asking that passengers remove and leave any large bottles of liquid from their hand luggage. Sealed duty free alcohol seems to be the exception.
- Tip: Sometimes it is cheaper to pack alcohol and pay the $1.5 per pound excess luggage fee than to purchase duty free at LAX.
Boat Transfer as of April 2022:
- 14,000 XPF per person roundtrip
- Children are free (not sure if there is an age cutoff)
It would be rather difficult to take the free boat from the BOB airport to Vaitape and then take the complimentary shuttle to St Regis. You would need to carry your luggage and time your flights accordingly. This would also need to be coordinated with the property.

101 - Deluxe Over Water Villa w/ view may be renovated

I am monitoring this Bora Bora thread, along with STR Maldives. I actually wanted to book Al Maha on points but agents I called so far aren't helpful.
It looks like so far:
STR Maldives has some bookable dates
STR Bora Bora has zero
Al Maha LC has some bookable dates but need extra 6k for "Suite Upgrade"
I really wish I can use the FN from the Chase RC welcome bonus to book Al Maha, but it is capped at 60k, not sure if they allow me to use both FN Cert + 6k top-up.

(Please do understand that we had a wonderful time at the StR Bora Bora, even if we aren't dying to return. It is truly a wonderful view and property. It's just that there are several amazing beach/water resorts in the SPG portfolio, even at the luxury level and even with the Le Meridien Bora Bora. There's nothing else in almost any chain portfolio like Al Maha, though!)
Congrats and enjoy!

for what it's worth, I've been told that a classic bungalow at Le Meridien Bora Bora is a Cat. 7 Level 1 suite that goes for 109k a night. Superior OWV at St. Regis Bora Bora is a Cat. 7 Level 3 suite that goes for 158k a night. Anyone else gain any other insight for Bora Bora?

182,500 Points Per Night!
A SPG agent quoted me 85,000 points per night for St. Regis Maldives (Overwater) BUT 182,500 points per night for St. Regis Bora Bora (1br Ovrwtr Supr Lagn Vw Vla)! I called again and another agent repeated the same thing. Anyone else have something similar?
If true, I am very disappointed with the St. Regis Bora Bora quote. I understand non-standard rooms are higher but 182,500 points is insane and more than the cash-booking value of the room for my dates.
Above points quote is excluding 5th night free. If you book 5 nights, you will get 5 nights for the price of 4 nights.

For the record, even under the legacy SPG program, this amazing property was never always available for award redemption. It's always been a "Limited Participation Property" for obvious reasons.
So anyone getting any award redemptions at ANY points level here might want to consider that--and count their blessings! If you are able to secure the discounted level of anywhere close to 60,000-85,000 points/night, that's still an incredible deal. So enjoy!

I think Marriott should threaten to kick out all hotels that don't participate in their program as announced.
Rebranding and marketing would probably cost the hotels more than offering their entry level rooms for points.
The IC Thalasso and the Conrad are now both ranked higher than the St. Regis on Tripadvisor and can be booked for a very reasonable amount of points.
What's the big deal here, particularly for the Meridien? I don't think it would be a big loss for the program if they get kicked out when they are not available for points anyway.

Anyone who relies on relative TripAdvisor rankings is kidding themselves. Anyone who thinks the IC or Conrad Bora Bora properties are anywhere as nice or considered remotely comparable to the St Regis Bora Bora is kidding themselves.
Sorry, friend, but the StR is comparable to and in some respects even superior to the widely celebrated Four Seasons Bora Bora. The IC and Conrad (formerly the Hilton) aren’t nearly as good in terms of hard products and aren’t remotely as good in terms of soft products. It isn’t even close.
Your frustration is understandable that you’ve been unable to get a free award booking for the ridiculously low arbitrage rates allowed by thie award chart oddity now—especially as you hear how so many others have been able to do so. But you’ve gone round the bend as a result, I’m afraid. Marriott isn’t interested in having properties that can be redeemed entirely by award seekers, nor do hotel owners want to part of any managed hotel chain that encourages them to only serve award seekers.
The big deal is that hotels are in business to make profits, not please the hordes of free award seekers.
