Dave, I didn't answer your question as to how AF is handling those pax booked in or out of LAX if and when there flight is cancelled. The answer is that it depends who you get. AF has call centers in France, Netherlands, Chille, Mauritius and Australia and while they are all supposed to follow the same script they do not. The best advice is do not call until the flight is actually cancelled which normally takes a week or so after they stop selling the flight. If it's a revenue ticket they will offer a refund to original form of payment or in some cases offer to book in the same inventory class of service (not just cabin) with no difference of fare. They used to do same cabin (regardless of inventory) but that was squashed late last year. If it's a reward booking they normally will only offer a refund of points and taxes/fees to original form of payment and then you are on your own to book a new award seat. AF is very much a HUCA type operation and trying at different times of day and night can get very different results.

I used to prefer AF over TN when flying from Tahiti to and from the U.S. as in my opinion their hard product is superior and the soft products are mostly comparable. Obviously with the U.S. pandemic restrictions AF has not been an option for about a year now but I have booked a number of flights hoping it will come back soon but always end up reverting back to TN. If I had to guess I think AF will resume the PPT-LAX flights sometime between May and July. I could see them actually adding a PPT-LAX dedicated once a week rotation (in addition to the CDG-YVR-PPT) for the summer travel season even if FP reopens and demand returns (ie the pandemic settles down) but the U.S. ban on transiting passengers remains. AF is getting killed by TN for passenger traffic and the only thing that keeps them flying CDG-PPT via Canada is the freight advanage they have flying a 777 vs TN's 789.
