Last note. As a gold, you must ASK for the upgrade.
Thanks for your review!
Was your club room renovated? I see that there's been a renovation recently.
Is there self parking; I don't want valet driving my car, I much prefer having access to my car when I want to. How much is it for self parking?
I booked a club room because I don't want to gamble not getting a club room. As a gold member I should never expect anything, so I'm just better off booking what I want.

Renovation - to be candid, not sure. I mean, the bedding and bed was nice, but the furniture in the room seemed a bit dated (drawers don't slide nicely) and clearly the LCD was 'retrofitted' into the armoire. The carpet and wallpaper was in good condition - the shower just seemed OK to me. So I would not call it a nice new room.

Self parking is $12 vs the $17 for valet and I'm not sure exactly where it is - I don't think it is close, given I could not even find anywhere to park.

As for the upgrade, it may just be worth a call to internal reservations to see - but I'm with you on the guarantee - it was just one night for me and wasn't such a big deal, but if you are spending $40/night for it for a few nights, may be worth the call.

Good luck!

I'm staying there next week for a convention and the hotel is sold out. I'm thinking about using points to upgrade for the first night and then hoping they'll just let me stay in the upgraded room for the whole stay. Any experience doing that at this property or any others?

I've used that strategy here before (for a 2 night stay) and it has worked.

JW-
I'm assuming you're going to the DJ Expo. I'll be there also.

I've also used this strategy at this show in the past. Most years it worked, a few it didn't and I had to switch rooms. Thankfully I now know the GM

Huge props to Atlantic City Sheraton and day manager

I'll be sending a thank you letter to the AC Sheraton and to SPG, but I owe them a lot.

I was recently off on a day visit to Atlantic City, and got called in to do a web training. I was at the borgata hotel, and had about 3 hours before then to figure out what was going on. Well their business center sucks (2 computers out in the open) and the front desk refused to do anything for me, not for free or a fee. The best they were willing to do was give me a room for the night for $299 (Gee thanks). So I left and went to the sheraton in hope that they'd help me out. Sure enough, the day manager (I believe it was Ed) got me a nice room to use for the 2 hours, internet access, and valet parking. In the end it cost me $90 for everything all in. To top it all off, he gave me stay credit, points, and the plat welcome 500pts.

Ed- I owe you one. William, if you're listening, give the folks over at the AC sheraton a category upgrade or two (just kidding, they're already inflated).

Does the Jitney run to hotel?

We are going next month. Wondering if the Jitney has a stop there. Also I read online that the club will be closed during our stay. Since we are Gold, do they usually comp breakfast or something in this case? I was going to book at a casino, but MomFLA is a big Miss America Fan and this sounds like it has alot of history there from the pagent, plus the $99 rate and the $21 Spirit airfare made it a great deal. Thanks!

The property is right across the street from the convention center, train station and there are jitney stops there too. It's not even 1/4 mile across the street from the front door.

Without the benefit of the club, if this is a leisure visit, wouldn't it be better to stay off the boardwalk? Especially considering the major "recent" renovations and the Pier @ Caesars. Since you are mentioning $99 rates, I'm assuming you are staying mid-week.

Mid-week dates in AC for HET properties (in December) range from $89 (Showboat), for non-status guests. And, if you don't mind being off the boardwalk Harrah's Marina can be had as low as $79 (and Harrah's has the awesome new indoor adults only pool as well as a brand new red-door spa) --- free transportation is also provided from Harrah's to the boardwalk properties.

Personally, I would prefer the better location(s) if I could get a room rate equivalent (or less) than the Sheraton's rates. (not to mention some of these properties are nicer than the Sheraton)

And to add - they don't offer lounge access for Golds, nor will you get breakfast comped as Gold. In probably 7 stays I've never gotten more than the SPG floor as a Gold. The rooms are nice, though.

I actually stay at this hotel alot and is a personal favorite. That being said, I'm there for work, don't gamble, and don't usually go far from the hotel. In another words, if you're not a hermit you'll have to shlep everywhere you want to go... Did they say why the lounge is closing? It was just recently refurbished (last year) and I can't imagine what else they could be doing.

Maybe I just haven't payed attention, but I haven't noticed alot of Miss Amer. stuff there- pictures on the wall, etc. If thats a big factor for you, I'd suggest just dropping in and looking around. It may take you all of ten minutes.....

Was supposed to stay here last summer, but decided to stay elsewhere. Are Club Floors only accessible with your room card? (Elevator swipe to access?) Is the Club Lounge open 24 hours a day to watch TV, read, and grab a beverage in the fridge? Strange indeed, why would they close a Club Lounge that was renovated last year?

Yes, the club floor is only accessable by card swipe. Unlike many floors where you also need to swipe to get into the lounge, at this property once you are on the floor there is no door to the lounge. The lounge does have a TV and is open 24 hours, but there are no fridges to grab a beverage from. They only set out the drinks/food during the set hours, so there really isn't a point to using the lounge except during those hours. In addition, since there are no doors to the lounge, any loud talking/tv carries down the hall to the rooms. The top two floors are club level, so I always request the lower floor since it is quieter.

If I am not mistaken the Miss America Pagents were held at the "Old" Convention Center now called Boardwalk Hall located near Ballys/Caesars. The Sheraton is located next to the "New" Atlantic City Convention Center.

Currently sitting in Tun Tavern during my stay at the AC Sheraton.
Was given room 1406. No bottled water and my key holder was a generic holder, not the usual platinum.

Thinking that maybe they didn't see that I was platinum, I went down to check in to and asked if I could get upgraded to a club room (15th/16th floor).

I was told that they do NOT upgrade Platinums to the club floor. That's a first for me. I wasn't even asking for a suite. At least he was generous enough to have housekeeping send up 2 bottles of water to our room.

Other than that, I like the hotel, especially since all the shops opened on the street heading toward the boardwalk. Staff is generally good and I have always received 4pm checkout the 6 or 7 times I've stayed here, even on a Saturday. They have a little computer center on the second floor, but I couldn't receive ha wi-fi signal, but the Tun picks it up.
