Is the consensus that there's no NC7, so people with the old tier 4-5 just need to wait until they create it?

Apart from the 353 number which is in Ireland, there is also a UK 44 number on the Marriott website

We are in the "Show Me" situation. So far only the worst fears have come true, on all fronts, not just the TPs.

Comparing to the mess on TPs, the losing point balances when combining accounts is affecting many. That has gotten lots of attention and escalation while it is dead silence on TP, including no blogger would pick up the issues except just a little write up by OMAAT which quickly died once the new credit cards are introduced and the push for the cards becomes full force.

I would venture to say, UNTIL we no longer need to be redirect to SPG site to use the legacy SPG booking platform, the chance of being able to attach the cert to SPG properties remains NIL.

Once we are able to book SPG properties the same way as Marriott properties, using the Marriott booking platform, then yes, the cert would become applicable to the SPG properties. We would be very lucky to see such happening before the end of this year.

Dont forget we still do NOT have a name of the merged program! That would not be announced until early 2019. No ETA.

Given the myriad of issues on this mid year merger that came out of the blue when Marriott had been telling investors that the actual merger would not happen in 2018 after postponing the projection time a couple times, then all of a sudden news leaked from China in late March they were working on getting rid of SPG platform in August, that forced Marriott to make announcement in April of the Mid Year Aug 1st merger, it cannot be ruled out that there are some greater forces behind the rush to do the merger of systems when nothing is really ready to do so. Of course Marriott will never tell you any truth of this odd Mid Year merger that creates tons of challenge on the night counts, LT status etc etc to just name the most basics, when a year end or beginning of the year merger would make much more sense.

I always use the UK 44 number as it's cheaper for me than calling the 353 international number (I'm based in the UK). Always/nearly always I get the Cork, Ireland-based call centre that I'm sure you get when ringing the 353 number.

I had assumed that MPG would either convert the certificates fairly initially or end up doing slightly more later. If the company had simply stated in the one email that was sent to customers on 8/10 that we could make changes to our existing certificates during the dead period between 8/18 when the conversions were announced and the end date of 9/18, I believe most people wouldn't have objected.

If given the option on August 18 to pay the difference between the 40K per night rate incorporated in a OC8 or the 45K per night rate for the OC9 and the standard rate of 50K for a NC6, I would have willingly done so and I would probably have never thought about it again. Instead, I guessed right on the OC9, which was 5K per night or 30K less than I would have been willing to pay. I also had a OC8 that I ended up being able to upgrade to a NC6 (Thank you Irish CSR!) and saved another 30K compared to might have paid if the option to upgrade had been available initially.

Rather than being pleased that I saved 60K in points, I am annoyed at how difficult this process has been and I now have a lower opinion of the company that caused the controversy than I otherwise would have. It's clear that not being upfront about its intentions was a customer relations failure that in the end may not even save the company money.

I felt that it would have been fair to allow existing holders to count the point value of existing certificates towards the new ones. I was willing to pay the difference in point value between my existing certificates (45K and 40K per night times 6) and the new ones (50K per night times 6) to be assured of having the ones I wanted. Since MPG mades the changes without announcing the conversions, I ended up with a NC6 for my OC9 at no cost instead of paying 30K for the upgrade and paid 30K to upgrade my OC8 instead of 60K.

I had a OC9 with a 45K per night value and I wanted a NC6 with a 50K per night standard point value. The difference would have been (50K - 45K) * 6 = 30K. I also had a OC8 that I paid 30K to upgrade to a NC6. The difference would have been (50K - 40K) *6 - 30K = 30K. 30K + 30 K = 60K.

Just a quick DP : I had an OC Tier 1-3 (aka 830P). I called to get it cancelled, and thanks to the advice/datapoints of a couple of helpful people on this forum, I was able to get the 195K points refunded, and an additional number of points from the various CSRs that I spoke with, that got me a result I was quite satisfied with. I called via the RitzCarlton CSRs

Was told it doesnt exist.

When going for an upgrade do the points actually show as debited from my account for the upgrades immediately upon logging off and back on again?

bad dp today

Just called Marriott today to convert the certificate. Talked with 3 agents and 2 supervisor/managers in US this afternoon. I did successfully convert old C6 to new C4. But, I didn't get the 30K points difference reimbursement. Here is the details.

1. QP87 has been REMOVED from the ordering system at Marriott side. The ONLY new C4 that Marriott reward agent can help you to convert now is QP83. Two different agents told me that they can't see QP87 anymore. (One of them even told me she was able to see it earlier this week.)

2. Marriott recently (Agent said on 09/13) sent a training/announcement email to their reward agents about the travel package certificates conversion process. Marriott made it clear that all agents need to stick to the existing conversion table and inform the members that there will be NO POINTS REFUND at the time of conversion, even if there was points difference between the legacy certificates(old C5/C6 for example).

3. Marriott recently also trained their reward agents that all the Marriott travel package certificates can ONLY BE USED AT MARRIOTT PROPERTIES. (And yes, the 'manager' confirmed with me TWICE on this topic.)

I'm not happy at all with Marriott right now. Apparently they just screwed their members up. I still Platinum while I should be Platinum Premier status. I still can't select my 50N gifts even I'm already 75N now, as that page always ends up with Oops error message. And now, they don't even allow to refund the points difference on the certificates and don't allow me to use it on SPG properties!

That has been my experience as well. I used the 44 number regularly when I was posted in Europe and invariably got the Irish service center.

1) OC6 is converted to QP80. This has 75K value while QP83 has 45K value.
Whoever created the Wiki has made a mistake on the NC4 75K value code!

I am not even sure a QP87 has ever existed.

This is what shown on my cert converted on August 19th
  • Description: PARTIAL PACKAGE - 7 NIGHTS CATEGORY 1-4
  • Reward code: QP80
  • Valid through: Monday, August 19, 2019
  • Total points redeemed: 75,000
  • Confirmed on: Sunday, August 19, 2018
2) HUCA. When your OC6 converted to QP83 which is the 45K value, you will automatically get 30K refund. At least up till Friday this was what happened when a friend called at 5am PST. If you want the 30K automatic refund, that is EXACTLY the NC code you want!!
The correct process is to Cancel the OC5, 75K back to your account INSTANTLY. Then the rep order the NC4 QP83 by taking 45K from your account. If it is done right, you SHOULD receive 2 confirmation emails - one is for the cancellation of OC6, one is for the reordering of QP83.

3) Not surprised about certs cannot be used on SPG despite many still hold out hope.
