Free seaplane w/ 7 night stay

I was messing around with some bookings last night and it seems like they waive the $1500 seaplane (for two) if you stay seven nights or more on points. Can anyone confirm?

Also, when I was looking at a 5-day booking, they had overwater villas available, but when I switched the a 7-day booking only garden villas were available. Is my best bet to just book the garden villa and then call and switch to overwater for the 5 nights that it’s available?

Thanks!

It doesn't get waived on the website when you got to book 7 nights on points so not sure whether they waive it at the hotel itself which I very much doubt.

You’re right, it doesn’t, but look at the rate details for a point advance booking. I’ve attached the screenshot.

Check Weather at Resort

Not a very meaningful question (apologies as I'm new to this website), but is there any easy way to check the current weather at the resort on a given day? My partner and I had a trip planned for this week and we are just wondering how the weather turned out on the island so we can live through it vicariously (and more importantly determine if a late May or early June trip during rainy season would be likely for next year!)

That is a good point, I would contact the hotel directly to confirm. The offer is too good to be true as you can just simply buy the points for 2 extra nights which given the current promo is cheaper than the seaplane cost!

Personally I would just book it, its clearly stated in the t&c's. The more people contact the hotel to confirm these things the quicker offers get pulled!

Well yes and no. Yes it is clearly stated in the T&Cs and hence it would make sense to book first and then potentially get in touch. I'd rather not risk an unnecessary disagreement/argument at a place like maldives where once I have reached there is no other option and especially when we are talking quite high monies

On something this clear Marriott would likely have your back and failing that a chargeback from Amex would be a very simple way to resolve it.

Absolutely agree - the underlying assumption is that you have time and resources to go through this potential faff which would leave a bad taste in your mouth at the end of a splendid holiday in the Maldives.
I guess my opinion is more suited for the risk-averse/confrontation-averse traveller who could avoid all this by simply confirming in advance

Also however you open up the door for them to tell you sorry that offer isn't available and you will have to pay for your seaplanes, which will leave you $1500 out of pocket if you decide to go.

Presumably, you bring that conversation before the stay rather than after right? And per your point, you can then get Marriott involved as it is going against the T&Cs

I went ahead and booked it via Points Advance. Seeing as the points sale is going on until 6/30 I figured I'd wait as long as I could to see what I think the world will look like in December before I go ahead and buy a ton of Marriott points while obviously taking the risk that they change the rate. One question which isn't directly related to this resort, does anyone know if I can buy points across multiple accounts and then just transfer them into one? As long as I only do 100k per account?

I think there's a live webcam -- lots of them stationed in the Maldives, I think there's one at St. Regis.

As for checking historical weather, I'm not sure there's much... even when there, there's not really any good source of weather predictions!

Yes, you can.

As per loyalty Points Sharing Policy, you can Transfer up to a maximum of 100,000 Points, per calendar year, to other Accounts.
A Member can receive up to a maximum of 500,000 Points, per calendar year, from other Member Accounts, as long as the Accounts are in good-standing and have each been open for at least thirty (30) days with Qualifying Activity, ninety (90) days without Qualifying Activity.
