Newer and renovated Springhills have furniture from a name-brand vendor (which escapes me right at the moment, but someone else will know). Rather than a traditional sofabed they have a rather unique wood sofa that comes with a trundle bed under it. It is essentially a box on wheels with a mattress in it that pulls out from the bottom. Although quite comfortable compared to a typical foldable sofabed mattress, they are not for taller people since it is only the length that will fit under the sofa - I'm thinking around 5 feet. The best use would be for a child or some other shorter person that does not mind essentially sleeping on the floor.

Thanks yyzflyer. The guest opted to use the sofa itself to sleep on, rather than the trundle bed, and it was long enough for him (he's probably about 5'7).

West Elm. Been in a couple of SHS recently. Haven't pulled out the trundle though- and you're right, at 6'3" I'm not fitting in there (unless there's a band saw handy ).

Just had a stay at the RI Las Vegas Airport.

Didn't take any pictures but would recommend again in a heartbeat (likely to become my go-to in LV). It's very close to the airport (around the corner from the Rental Car) but the rooms are well made and I didn't notice any airport / airplane noise at all throughout my stay. Rooms are all new and the gym was pretty nice for an RI (ground floor, spacious, looked out to the pool so lots of natural light).

Parking is free and there was ample parking. Easy to get to the highways to get down to the strip (if that's where you are headed). It's about 1 mile to the Town Square which has a Whole Foods among other things.

Hmm. You mean this place?

I have a few shots from when I stayed there back in mid-November 2019 for one night.

Can post if folks are interested.

David

p.s. Property, as Duke787 notes, is in very good shape and appears to be new. Confirmed both with managers at Front Desk and on its web pages that the property was built in 2016 so it is holding up well for its age and usage.

p.p.s. And, there's an interesting story as to why I stayed here which I can add as well...

Anyway to get this waved, as a Gold memeber or otherwise?
Last year I was told that they do not waive the parking fee for any guests (I am Marriott Platinum). I decided to stay elsewhere as there is no excuse for the parking fee. These properties are in a completely suburban environment surrounded by strip malls and residential areas. Feels like a greedy money grab.

It's fairly new and I would have loved to stay there. However there is 1 reason why I won't. They have motion sensors in every room and the air shuts off it it doesn't detect movement. I asked about it and spoke to the GM. Unfortunately he told me there is no way to disable it. So I do not want to be in my room asleep and the air shuts off and I wake up super hot. No thank you. It's a shame because otherwise it looks like a solid choice.

Understood. I honestly don't recall the motion sensor issue and my wife is insistent on keeping the room cool/cold for sleeping and she was ok - but again, that was November and temps only went up into the upper 80s / lows in the 60s.

Las Vegas Hotels Eligible for Suite Night Upgrades?

Hi all,

I've been researching some hotels and trying to identify which hotels have possibility of a suite night upgrade, for 4-6 folks per room. I called a rep, but they weren't helpful. Issue that I'm seeing is that some of the hotel rooms on the Marriott website look to classified as 'villas'Tor 'lofts', and are likely outside the parameters of what is a 'suite'. Ihe phone rep mentioned I could "add a comment and request suite night be applied towards an upgrade", which I've never heard of.

I'm hoping some of you can share your success stories with recent suite night upgrades in Vegas, ideally for the ones near the strip.

There's no exception in the rules for Las Vegas, but I would expect casino hotels to prefer to use their suites as comp upgrades for high rollers. It's possible that the hotel somehow blocks suites in advance for this purpose.

Just pay for a 2BR or 3BR at the Grand Chateau versus relying on an upgrade. Larger suites at the Cosmo will be $$$ so unless the entire group is willing to splurge and share costs, Grand Chateau will be the best Marriott option.

Your best chance at an upgrade with a SNA or status is going to be some Marriott or Renaissance and it might only sleep two people comfortably as the suites there probably only have one King bed.

For four people, there might be a 2Q room that could upgrade to a suite, either with a 2Q bedroom or a 1K bedroom with a Q sleeper sofa in the parlor.

If you have more than four people, you're basically asking that two rooms be upgraded to a specialty suite.

Vegas is unique, but most hotel suites won't accommodate more than four adults.

Agreed, recently stayed here and having all the extra space was fantastic, and we got it for a great price. Very clean and well-maintained, and a very quick walk to the strip. Highly recommend!

Cat 4 Options in LV

I'm looking at either the Courtyard Las Vegas Convention Centre or SpringHill Suites Las Vegas Convention Centre. Any info to help me make my mind up would be most useful. I'm Lifetime Titanium in that makes any difference (I doubt it).

Any other suggestions are also welcome.

TIA

Is this for an event at the Convention Center?
The Courtyard is closer to the Convention Center itself, as well as the Monorail station, if you are planning to use that to get to the strip.

I haven't stayed at either one, but familiar with the area from past events. (I stayed at the Renaissance).
Siegel's Bagelmania, just a short walk down Convention Center Drive, was a good spot for quick bite at good prices, both breakfast and lunch.

Springhill will have complimentary breakfast, if that is important.

I stayed at the Residence Inn Hughes Avenue for a couple nights as well. I think it was Cat 4, though I can't seem to find that on the new website design now
It was an OK option for redemption. 15 minute walk to the strip, easy in temperate weather. Not great in heat.
