Thanks, Im certainly not a dykwia kinda guy, that is why I am asking here.

I appreciate the advice. So all the Marriott rooms are suites, that kinda changes my ranking? Although the Renn for $89 seems tgtbt.

Anyone been to the Grande Chateau? Just curious how those are and the top floor pool/bar?

That's a great rate at the Renaissance, but I think you may like the Cosmo. I was there at the end of June and then last week. I'm not a Plat but Gold, but was treated well. Make sure you give your Plat card at check in as I got my reward points for both stays!

They don't have an executive lounge for elite members, but as a Plat, you get your breakfast comped at Wicked Spoon, the buffet. In reality, The WS only serves brunch from 8am-2pm. From 8-9, the standard breakfast stuff is out, but at 9am, they bring out the brunch food. When I'm in Vegas, I'm a late riser so this was perfect for a meal at 11am! I even got my food comped at the WS.

The hotel has two towers, both with balconys! My first stay, I was in a Studio and was upgraded to a 1 bedroom. This was in the East Tower and was on the 69th floor with a balcony facing the Bellagio Fountains! I was able to veiw all of Vegas from my balcony! The 1 bedroom also has a Japanese style soaking tub and a walk in shower. I've been told you don't want a room on the south side of the tower as the nightclub music is loud.

My second stay was upgraded to a Terrance Suite in the West Tower on the 35th floor. The was an apartment I could live in! Had double set of doors to my balcony and even a washer and dryer!

Both rooms had 55" flat srceens in the bedroom and living area. The living area had the Marriott connectivity panel. There are great restaurants and there is a casino downstairs on the main level.

Was the extra money worth it? Well I could have stayed at the Chateau for a little less and the Renaissance for less than that. While I like the Renaissance, I find the rooms a little small. The Cosmo has larger rooms, bathrooms and balconys! Where else are you going to find balconys at a Marriott in Vegas.

Oh, if you park your car in the underground garage, they have a neat system to let you know if a parking spot is available before you drive down the row. If you see all red lights, no spots. Look for the greens lights and there's a spot for you. The Cosmo was suppose to be a luxury condo, but went bankrupted. Deutche Bank took it over and opened it as the Cosmo. The rooms are great, food is good and the staff has been very nice to me. There is another thread on the Cosmo on the board. They even have posted Plats getting upgrade to a wraparound suite. For me, the Cosmo is now the Marriott property I will stay at in Vegas.

Well hope this helps. Good luck and safe travels!

So I can only get pts at the Cosmo Spa if I stay there? That is actually a pretty big deal as I am looking at prolly 6000 pts or so for the Spa.

I can't answer that as I was a registered hotel guest at the Cosmo and didn't use the Spa, but the pools were nice! Good Luck!

Stayed at the Marriott in May while attending a wedding. The breakfast was included and the suites? are fine but what really made our stay was the management. Small but lovely private pool. From the gm, asst gm, front desk and all they were GREAT!

I'm a fan of the Marriott due to its staff. They really are great there. I did a trip report on my stay there in '10 & '11.

Re: points at Cosmo spa. You would have to be a guest to get the points.

$89 for the Ren is a pretty good deal. I like the restaurant there, but it's pricey.

Cheers.

I see you didn't list the JW as a choice.

I've stayed at the Ren, Marriott + Cosmo and would rank the JW above all of them. The beds at the JW are wonderful and the JW has a pretty decent Spa.

The only bad part is the JW is off strip - which for me is a good thing as I appreciate the lower noise level.

As others have said, however, that rate at the Renaissance is great.

Cosmo is stating that it looks like they are gonna be pretty full Aug 10-12 and an upgrade is unlikely.(Thought that was a little weird for a wed-thur) I woulda loved to have stayed there, but I would give up a reg room there vs a suite somewhere else. So I guess I am leaning towards Ren or Marriott. Sounds pretty close to a toss up.

Any last minute advice, gonna prolly book tonight or tomorrow?

My vote would also be the JW.

I think you should be deciding based on what activities you'll be doing during the trip. If you're gambling, drinking, going to shows, etc. then do the Cosmo; it's right in the center of the strip near all the action.

If you're looking for relaxation, a bit more out of the way, etc. then do the Renaissance or the JW.

I've stayed at the Marriott and even though it has "suites" and it's a nice place, it's not very hip, trendy, or "romantic"; I wouldn't choose that one for an anniversary trip...

I have stayed at the Grand Chateau a few times. The rooms are great with really comfy beds.

You have the choice of studio, 1, 2, and 3 bed rooms. They have a fridge and microwave at least. Larger rooms have a kitchen, but I doubt you would use it on an anniversary trip.

Location is great. You walk right accross the street to the entrance to the Planet Hollywood shopping center. It is a little farther to walk to LV Blvd, but not bad.

Not many benefits. Might get an upgrade. They only have valet parking. They have a tiny pool on the roof along with a little bar, but the view is pretty cool.

Best thing is that you can be to your room in a minute or two. No casino on the property.

Congrats...and Happy Travels!

[QUOTE=AUSshouldbeahub;16784529]...I am leaning towards Ren or Marriott. Sounds pretty close to a toss up...QUOTE]

Ren is on the monorail line. Marriott is a bit of a walk to get to anywhere.

If you are going to spend your time on the strip, I suggest you go with the Cosmo or Grand Chateau. You will have more of a Las Vegas experience.

If you are prefer a quieter time and you will have a car, go with the JW.

It all really depends on what you want out of this trip...

I prefer the Renaissance over the Marriott as the Marriott is a bit dated. Reminded me of an older Residence Inn. Stayed at the Cosmo a few months back and would recommend it if I didn't have so many problems there. They changed my key on me mid-stay and I had to do the long walk back to the front desk twice as the first new key card they gave me didn't work. Also had to wait over an hour for a room when I checked in (around 3:00 PM) and they did not offer to check my luggage for me. I'm Platinum and wasn't offered an upgrade. They did give me free breakfasts at the buffet. If you look at the reviews of the Cosmo people either love it or hate it. Rooms are very nice and location is perfect but too many people have had very bad experiences there. I'm going to give them some time to learn how to run a hotel before I stay there again.

My favorite Marriott in Vegas is the JW. They're running a summer special for $149 that includes Breakfast for 2 and $50 per day resort credit. This is the same as getting a room for less than $70 a night at a JW Marriott. If you need to stay on the strip, this isn't your hotel but if you don't mind driving about 20 minutes to the strip and want an upscale quiet resort this would be a good choice.
