Charleston- I just noticed the update on the Marriott site. Was looking at some dates in February and was excited about the new hotel until I realized that it used to be the HI. I have used my FNA from my $49 AF IHG card at that property a few times.

It appears that Mövenpick West Bay Doha will be joining Marriott, but between the name of "Independent West Bay Doha", a property code of DOHKW and a website that isn't up yet, I can't figure out what brand it'll slot under. I don't see the influential owners of the iconic Sheraton as being thrilled by a second Sheraton in the city, so I'm guessing it'll slot in as a Renaissance or Courtyard since neither brand is present in Doha yet.

Marriott.com now shows it as Autograph Collection.

Looks like the old Sari Pacific Jakarta is now an Autograph Collection hotel… the hotel the the first Pan Pacific to open and it’s interesting how they’re outsourcing their management once more after so many years independent.

Figured I owe Marriott and the Wyndham Phoenix Airport/Tempe a followup on this. It's been awhile, because work and holidays, but finally got around to contacting Bonvoy Customer Care about this today--they replied promptly (within about 15 minutes!) to say they would redeposit the 83K+ points. Hasn't posted yet, but don't think there will be a problem.

As for the Wyndham (nee Sheraton), I went ahead with the paid stay--it was a decent rate at $99 and was just for one night to be near the airport for an early morning return. The hotel itself was just okay, though to be fair there was evident work to rehab/remodel and they were clearly short-staffed. That was back in early November, so possibly has improved. Also, kudos to them for providing a paid Uber to the airport since their shuttle was down for maintenance.

cheers!

Very messy. What was the cancellation term on your original points reservation? If you haven't already, perhaps reach out to FT Marriott Lurkers for assistance to get your points returned. Will Wyndham let you cancel the $$ reservation, assuming that is what you want to do? Finally, if you haven't already, make alternate arrangements on your own now before it gets even more expensive to do so as your stay nears. E.g. do that in parallel with working on a resolution with Marriott and Wyndham.

Turns out they're not honoring the original points redemption. Called to follow up with the hotel since the reservations still haven't shown up in my Wyndham Rewards account and they said the reservations were transferred over as $$ reservations. So now I have a reservation that was paid for with points, converted to a paid stay, and no points refunded...yet--trying to get the actual confirmation in hand showing it is a paid stay so I can get Marriott to at least refund the points.

I am not optimistic.

So...I've just discovered in my junk email a notification sent Friday evening September 12 this hotel (the former Sheraton PHX Airport/Tempe mentioned above) is a Wyndham effective September 14--and if I wanted to cancel or rebook I had to contact Marriott by 13 September (!).

Seriously, Marriott!?

They say Wyndham will honor the reservation, and the hotel cheerfully reconfirmed with new reservation #s, but still... This would be much less annoying if not traveling with my 70+ year old in-laws.

Has anyone here had a similar experience recently? Did all work out?

TIA!

There was the announcement that Hyatt was acquiring the Dream Hotel Group a while back, including Chatwal Hotels, but has there been a specific announcement about the NY property?

Accor acquired SBE, yet the SLS in LA is still with Marriott...

The W Budapest has recently made it into MARSHA. It was announced back in 2017, now it is scheduled for July 2023 just across the Opera. The location is great and it will be saving a beautiful building that has been rotting away since 2002.

Currently no information or picture are available but designs (and photos of the original building) are available from the website of the architect firm, take a look!
