Let me make the start to a new and hopefully succesful thread similar to the ones at the IHG and Starwood boards:

Elysée Palace Hotel in Nice / Côte d'Azur will rebrand to the new AC by Marriott brand starting early next year after having completed extensive renovations.

A new Courtyard next to the Prudential Center in downtown Newark is set to open later this year. It is going to be the first newly built hotel in Newark in more than 40 years.

The Northland Inn in Minneapolis is set to rebrand and join the Marriott brand as the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in July 2012.

I often passed and wondered how they were still competing. 10yrs ago they had very little competition in the direct neighbourhood but that has all changed and most companies (incluidng my own) have deals with the chains that have since moved in. It was probably a join or die decision as I cannot see how a standalone would prosper in this area |
