What ever happened with W Prague?
It was announced in 2017 for a 2020 opening in the gorgeous Art Nouveau building on Wenceslas Square that used to house the Grand Hotel Evropa. It's a stunning building, tons of movies have been filmed there. I walked through it when I was in Prague in 2001. Part of it operated as a tourist hotel, while the rear portion was sublet to a guy who was running that portion as a hostel. He showed me around, I nearly switched from the hostel I was at, Pension Unitas, to stay in that grand old building, but it just felt like too much of a hassle. |

Thanks! That new tower was built on the site of the old rear wing. They clearly kept the front wing, where the stunning coffee shop is, I hope they included the portion where the grand staircase/atrium is. It appears they did, based on the skylight visible in the front portion facing the square. The rest was just a wing filled with dated hotel rooms, with no remaining historical fittings or elements, so they won't be missed.

A few interesting leisure destination conversions in west USA have appeared on the Marriott site:
The Viv (Tribute Portfolio) Anaheim CA - this has the same address as the Radisson Blu (opening July) Courtyard Santa Barbara Downtown CA - seems to be a conversion of La Quinta (opening September) Sky Rock Sedona AZ - currently unbranded but showing as Tribute (now open) |

It appears like the former Marriott Son Antem Resort in Palma de Mallorca will rejoin Marriott 6 years after leaving the brand but this time under the AC by Marriott brand. Expect renovations and also an extension.
