Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Solely from hearing his side of the story, I'd say he was flagged by the FD who didn't want to be on camera (which is ok and he did stop). He was also a Vegas local staying alone, which prompted security to check on him after the 2017 tragedy. It's fine for the hotel to explain to him he can't film but they should have refunded if they decided not to let him stay.

The problem was lack of interest in fixing it when the video came out, it would have been all good if marketing/PR invited him back properly and gave him a tour of the penthouse etc.

Now the stay I just booked today is a different story. I got a "no resort fee" offer in Identity, as well as $99 rates, and there was nothing even close on the Marriott site. About $350 out the door for 3 nights. In this case, when I tried to link the reservation to my Marriott account, turns out it is not possible. It's considered a casino deal and I get no points or elite night credits and can't track it through Marriott. Just thought I would share because the rep at first thought I had a comp room but apparently if the deal is too good to be on a hotel booking website, then it's pretty much treated like the kind of 3rd party discounted booking that Marriott does not honor for points and stay credits. It remains to be see if I get anything at all in terms of Platinum perks, like $10 food credit or upgraded room.
Yes, if you’re staying on a casino rate or comp, you don’t get Marriott points or nights. But on my last comped stay, I still received $10 food credit, an upgrade to a fountain view room, and 2pm checkout.

Thank you! I stayed in a Terrace Suite on my previous trip, so I am going to stay in a Wraparound this time. I had to fight tooth and nail for a Marriott BRG claim on this (That's another story), but I'm happy for the extra savings.

Basically this youtuber was documenting his stay with a single DSLR.
In his video, he said he was using over $10,000 worth of professional equipment.

I mean, how do we know that, other than taking his word for it? Surely he had his camera equipment available and probably documented his encounter with security, yet he doesn't show any of that in the video, so again, you're just taking him at his word for what "happened".

I mean, not really. Their photography policy is pretty clear on what is or isn't allowed:

"Per resort policy, all filming and photography requests must be approved by the Public Relations department and also supervised by a PR representative. This includes all public areas and guest rooms. Professional photography/videography for personal or commercial use, anywhere in the resort, is not permitted."
Source: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/contact

He's clearly filming on a professional device, and is for commercial use (ie. his YouTube channel which is monetized).

He can complain all he wants, but the hotel is simply following their posted filming/photography policy.

I believe he did use DSLR and tripod (based on of his Cosmopolitan clips) so hotel believe he was using professional equipment.

Most tourists took their video using their phones.

It doesn't invalidate my opinion of the resort having a (perhaps too strict) filming policy, given a dslr is commonly seen nowadays.
The policy also doesn't mean the interaction had to be unfriendly.

Just Body + 2 Lens can reach that amount.

I've watched him for a bit and he shoots his stuff seriously. I respect his efforts in promoting Vegas and its offerings, hence my empathy for his experience.
Either way, he said in a recent update that the VP personally reached out to apologize and revoked the ban.

Just booked a Fountain View Terrace Suite for late March. I could have got a wrap around (non Fountain view) for the same price but those are in the square (Chelsea?) tower and I find it LOUD as its too close to the strip.

I've seen his videos too and he does a great job providing insight into numerous Vegas resorts.

Sounds like miscommunication led to the bigger entity using their leverage to punish the other party.

Glad to hear cosmo reached out to resolve the situation. With how dire things are in Vegas, they sure could us the publicity.

The terrace suites are only in the Chelsea tower, but the Boulevard tower is the one closer to the strip.

I like the terrace suites since I don't need all the room of a wrap around, but staying in Boulevard is more convenient if you want to go to the cosmo restaurants or walk outside. The Chelsea is better for taxi/Uber access or if you drove yourself.

Had a nice 1 night stay here last weekend. Terrace 1BR was comped via Identity, I texted to associate my Marriott # and was told that I'd get $10 F&B credit, 2pm checkout, and a 1 category upgrade based on availability.

Indeed at check-in I asked for and received an upgrade to a fountain view (I could have done the e Standby Upgrade thing to a wraparound for $83/nt but didn't need it). My first room had a housekeeping issue (wet towels left in the tub... just didn't look done and shouldn't have been marked as clean), so I was moved to a new room and offered an extra $30 F&B credit for the inconvenience (which was fine -- they were able to reprogram my key for the new room over the phone).

Credits covered the food and tax from room service breakfast plus a salad from Holstein's the next day. All in all a great stay particularly with the 2pm checkout. I was surprised that both the resort fee and the valet parking were comped, which I wasn't expecting. (The terms of the comp email indicated that the resort fee would still apply, and I thought I saw something somewhere about a parking charge... I don't have any status with Identity.)

Impressive. How did you receive a comped Terrace 1BR over the weekend without Identity status?

Yeah, it's interesting. I've been getting these Cosmo offers by email for the past year or so and never used them. The offers have always been for up to 3 nights comp. I booked 3 nights (also in a Terrace 1BR) for a couple months ago but canceled (because others got cold feet due to covid). I was pleased to see the offer come back in a new email a few days later, so I booked for Super Bowl weekend (Saturday was already sold out, so I only booked Friday @ Cosmo... I ended up getting comp nights at Bellagio for Saturday & Sunday, which was equally surprising).

I've only gambled at the Cosmo a total of maybe 3 hours over 4 visits in the past 18 months, with the longest visit being maybe 90 minutes. (I remember that well... it was in the high limit card room, playing perhaps $200/hand blackjack, and I actually made $3k off my $2k buy-in while drinking comp Remy Martin XO.) The first email offer came right after that visit in early 2020. The other visits of 20-30 min each were just playing at regular blackjack tables (but probably still $200/hand on average).

End of the day, the comp offers are based on play not on status (and I didn't play long enough to earn hardly any Identity tier points). But I've played substantially more at M Life properties and the offers I get there are typically just for 3 nights in a regular room with maybe a $50 F&B credit, never for a suite. (I've gotten a host at a couple places to hook up a suite and cover other expenses, but that's all very discretionary.)

Also, I forgot to mention, Cosmo is still doing regular room service, proper plates and glasses and everything on a tray brought into your room by a real person. I thought that was wonderful, considering how everywhere else in the world, it seems, is going to takeout packaging. The $23 smoked salmon plate came out to $38.28 with the fees, but only ~$13 of that was ineligible for the F&B credits. Food quality and temps were great (warm toasted bagel, cold salmon & cream cheese, etc.).

Bellagio is doing takeout packaging for in room dining unless you order $100+, in which case you can request full plated service.
