We have many pages of random stuff, so lets just keep the "where to spend the coins" here too. I get reimbursed for meals (and snacks) that I buy for customers. Whenever I go to a customer site, I always ensure they are well hydrated from their own vending machines. When I'm on the road, I can easily burn a roll a day doing this.

Church collection bins are another easy spot to drop them instead of cash/check.

I do not believe the UPS label is accurate. I was short $1500 on my one order (6 boxes). The big box said 46 pounds yet there were only 4 little boxes inside and missing 6 of them.

The other big box I received (it was an order of $5000) was also the exact same weight of 46 pounds but had 10 boxes in it.

Yes the weight on my box with the missing boxes was also not accurate. said 46 pounds but was missing 2 boxes. (only had 8 in it)

I changed about 9k in coins in for bills at TD bank this afternoon. It only took an hour. The machines miscounted about 5 coins, but credited me with an equal number of other coins. That's an error rate I can live with!

Merchant Teller

Called up a couple of banks today asking what their procedure is regarding large coin deposit. One bank wants to charge me 0.5% for every $1,000. Sounds reasonable but I found a bank with a Merchant Teller. The CSR told me to bring whatever I have.

I got to the bank but I only manage to carry one box. I asked the mechant teller whether she wants me to open the box and she said yes. I opened every box and she pulled up a plastic bag (official bag used by the bank) and put all the coins in there ($1,000 a bag.)

She is very pleasant and told me to just bring in whatever I have next time and I asked her how about $20,000 and she was like what? She asked me to not bring so much because she and another lady get the task to move all the coins in the morning. She is an older lady so I guess I should be reasonable. She said $5,000 per visit should be ok. (I am not sure whether I can carry that much myself)

I asked her why doesn't she gives me the plastic bags so I can load the coins at home before bringing them to the bank. She gave me like 15 of 'em.

I am going to max out my credit card from here on out until I get flagged.

The machines in the TD Banks in my area only do $100 per bag. How many did your bank do?

Reasonable?!?

If you, like many of us, are using a 2% cashback CC, then a .5% fee amounts to losing 25% of your 'profit' from this deal. I'd take my business elsewhere, and it sounds like you did. Good for you. ^

Do you simply use their machines or you are a customer as well?

I'm using a 1% cashback card because I couldn't get approved for the 2%. Buying coins is still fun though even if I don't make lots of profit

The national chain I go to has started asking for my help to put them unwrapped in the coin bags. They can no longer ship them to the vault rolled. So I think this is related to the recent enforcement by the Fed accepting only the bags with unrolled coins.

I am fine un-wrapping the coins and give them the filled bags as long as the deposit hits my account right away, not like the two other branches telling me yesterday that the deposit won't show up until 2-3 weeks later when they get the count from the vault.

I have 10 empty bags in my trunk, waiting to be filled. Some asked me to fill $1,000 per bag, some ask for $2,000 per bag.

They started at $100/bag at one branch and then must have decided to put more in each bag because they didn't take as long with each of the subsequent batches. I wasn't paying much attention. At the second branch a manager came over after seeing the large pile of rolls I was breaking. At that point they started doing $1k or $2k per bag.

I simply used the machines and walked away with $100 bills. They were so pleasant about it I'll probably open an account!@:-)

You guys are pretty lucky. The TD banks near me don't have coin counters.

I changed my address to the UPS facility, not a UPS store. They were more than happy that I did that...and I guess the driver that had to carry the nearly 50# up a half flight of steps to my front door and then have to fill out the 'missed you Post-It' is even happier. According the the voice prompts when you call their 800 number after a missed delivery, pick up at their facility is an option. And that place is just a few miles from the bank.

I recall they charge to change an address for a redelivery (eg from home to work). But I changed the Ship to Address on the Mint's web site.

Hope that helps.

1) banks and cus

4) buying automobiles
5) usps
6) coinstar (unless it's free no way)
7) casinos?

hmmm I wonder what pawn shops would charge for taking coins...
I'm still waiting to hear more from the guy considering option #8:

8) Buying a $50K car with the coins

A representative from a national chain also called me today and told me they are fine with me bringing in whatever amount I have but they have to be unwrapped and be put in the plastic bag and should not exceed 50 lbs in total per bag. He also said the deposit will show up on my account in approximately 3 business days.

It is a fallback option at this time since it is more work (unwrapping every individual rolls should be considered a cruel and unusual punishment ) and it takes longer for the deposit to show up in my account. It definitely beats depositing multiple $1,000 at multiple banks though.
