Discover debit to WMBP
Has anyone tried to use Walmart Bill pay with the Discover Debit? Does it count towards the 1% Cashback on debit transactions?

MC transactions in general count. I buy 3k of MOs at a grocery store every month and it counts as well.

I do 6 X $500, as the store I go to only allows MO's up to $500. Plus, I only do one per day, as Discover's fraud alert bells will go off if trying a second on in a row. YMMV.
That's a slim profit margin. $30 - $6 = $24 $24 ÷ $3000 = 0.8% I suppose $24 is better than $0 but I was alway worried about the losing the MOs or something. |
anybody having issues with GEs? Last week I went to my not usual store and the MC gave me a "host timeout" error, which is odd. Went to another store and no problems. Today I go to the working store and it throws an error code, dude wouldn't give me the slip but it wasn't a host timeout.

Shut down
I’ve had the Discover card for a couple years now and don’t do large quantities of gift cards or money orders. Maybe $4000 a month total.
I received an email stating my bill pay would no longer work so I tried to login and was unable to. I called Discover and after being transferred to a couple of representatives, I was told my account was being shut down for “business reasons “ No idea what caused it, in fact, I haven’t used the card for about a month to load or to bill pay or anything else. I guess when I get there shut down letter, I’ll have to talk to them about getting reinstated, if that is even possible. |

I have already received several letters indicating greater hold times on deposits and less money immediately available for use. The increases aren't big (one or two days) but they now limit immediate availability to only several hundred dollars. We all know that Cap1 is not friendly to MS in general. I just wonder if this the opening DP in what may become a similar story in the future. $4K/mo is almost $50K a year. Not small potatoes. Hope pkerr can tell us how he did liquidate. |

Are you sure you don't mean "debit not approved"? Debit not available is usually a decline with your payment method, not the load.

Hopefully just employee ignorance of the new system (fingers crossed)

I have not been able to load at the cashiers in the stores I sometimes visit for weeks now. They got new terminals and one CSR was willing to try, asked for help from another CSR and was told they can’t do loads anymore. I also use to load at the electronics department and at two stores the CSRs in electronics said they took loading away from them.

I've heard this now at 4 super centers. But this week while driving through a small town i stopped by another and tried the cash wrap. The employee called over a Manager who said to go do it st MSC. I said "oh we can't do it at these registers anymore?" politely. He said "we can, but i prefer to have people do it at the money center."
So if this is correct, it's probably a lack of training. Or worse, a deliberate training to say it can't be done.

Unless there's some NEW new terminal, past the "new" ones that swipe at a 45° that have slowly rolled out over the last couple years, these shouldn't have any effect. If there's actually a software update that removes 70 action, then that sucks, although I'm still quite skeptical. And of course it's easier to blame the terminal itself than to say "no" to a customer. It's been a long time since they sent out the nuclear memo on our shenanigans, so long that there's only 1 lady left at my closest MC that was around for it and still asks about my loading card (it's been like 6 years, lady! Get a promotion already! Come on!).

This way I get my 3% from Discover, liquidate ONE balances without doing direct ACH and I can burn one Vanilla for free. This is at a very MS unfriendly grocery chain, but when splitting payments like this, I flash my chip cards first so the cashier doesn't even notice that the last 500 is a GC swipe. |
is this Acme or SAFEWAY?
