Yeah I meant outside the system limits imposed by Discover, which is $1k/24 hours. But as is seemingly always the case with this card, I fully expect someone to start arguing with employees and managers, which will get you nowhere fast, even tho you're correct. They could have done $600. If you got a standard employee to split load $500, that's a W, move on.

My local store has been changing out the payment terminals, but everything worked normally. Today some employees told me the software also got an update and they don't have the 70 action code option at register anymore. If this true, or they just don't realize how to do it yet on the new interface?

Disturbing if true
That would mean we cannot load at the cash registers any more.

Hopefully just employee ignorance of the new system (fingers crossed)

I have not been able to load at the cashiers in the stores I sometimes visit for weeks now. They got new terminals and one CSR was willing to try, asked for help from another CSR and was told they can’t do loads anymore. I also use to load at the electronics department and at two stores the CSRs in electronics said they took loading away from them.

I did a 2k load at the MC today.

Ugh!!
It will be a week before I can test my store. Will report back then.

Agree with the idea that CSRs may personally impose a load limit, but that is different than the system enforcing it

That's good to know. But i wasn't about to question it so i accepted the lower limit. And figured I'd check here. Plus it was split with cash so i still got to use the full MCGC amount and just sacrifice some cash for later (:

Totally agree. I'm not friendly enough with them so arguing would just put eyes on me.

I've heard this now at 4 super centers. But this week while driving through a small town i stopped by another and tried the cash wrap. The employee called over a Manager who said to go do it st MSC. I said "oh we can't do it at these registers anymore?" politely. He said "we can, but i prefer to have people do it at the money center."
So if this is correct, it's probably a lack of training. Or worse, a deliberate training to say it can't be done.

Luckily the WM closest to me are neighborhood markets which seem to not have the register changed yet.

Unless there's some NEW new terminal, past the "new" ones that swipe at a 45° that have slowly rolled out over the last couple years, these shouldn't have any effect. If there's actually a software update that removes 70 action, then that sucks, although I'm still quite skeptical. And of course it's easier to blame the terminal itself than to say "no" to a customer. It's been a long time since they sent out the nuclear memo on our shenanigans, so long that there's only 1 lady left at my closest MC that was around for it and still asks about my loading card (it's been like 6 years, lady! Get a promotion already! Come on!).

Loads vs swipes

New to this, 15 loads per month is the total amount of times you insert the discover card and successfully load and NOT 15 gift card swipes correct?

Correct

DP - Think there are two separate limts. I just realized that I hit 21 loads (all 500's except for one 480) between starting May 4 and with last load on June 3

Has anyone tried loading mcgc to discover whether it’s the Walmart ones you get (after consolidating it with $200 staples gc) or even the staples mcgc ? I thought I need a dp somewhere that staples mcgc can be loaded as $150.

I exclusively load using OD MCGC $200 variable. If you can do it at the regular registers you can do the full amount. If it's at the MC register I've only been able to do $99.

What are the two different load amounts. The wiki at the top refers to 20 loads in a rolling 30 days. Does that need to be updated? I use a spreadsheet to keep track of my loading to avoid going over said 20.

Can someone shed light on these two different loading limits please.

Disco T&C say $20k per month but there is speculation that WM are imposing an additional $10k limit (per month or rolling 30 days)
