Vanilla's Still Having Issues?
 

Are people still having issues with Vanilla's getting locked out and needing replaced? I've been having good luck with SS VGCs, but my normal stores are running out of them. With the SS's, I would just need to wait around 24 hours and could load for $500 no problem. If I did it a little too early, it would get fully locked, but a quick phone call to customer service and they would unlock right away. At this point there is no need to wait and I could load the full $500. I was going to start running through Vanilla's again, but if its still been taking battling with their customer service and then waiting a week to get replacements, maybe Im better off driving around some more.

I haven't had a problem if I do $499, but when I try $500... lock time. They don't get replaced, just unlocked and then they are good to go.

I have been using Sutton/Incomms and have zero issues at both 500 or 1K.
Stayed away from SS VGCs but given your DP, will try again as the Sutton/Incomm 500s are starting to run low locally. Will report back to confirm your DP.

Do you have any experience doing Pathward/ Incomm Vanillas? Seems like thats all I can hardly find lately, and they still have the 4097 58 BINs.

Ahh, fair enough. I bought one yesterday to kind of test but havent tried it yet.. Are you able to eventually load them after getting them locked and unlocked? Or should i just plan on liquidating this naturally and move on?

It was hit or miss @ full liquidation, caused lock-ups about 60% of the time (rough estimate) and I had to get replacements cards - which then always worked for full liquidation.
FWIW: I've had 100% luck doing 494.05 and using the remaining 5.95 to buy another card. Just a pain, and the MC CSR sometimes looks at me weird when I want to load a strange amount like that...so I avoid it now.

They work, but so far the only way I've been able to avoid a lock of the card is to "season" it with an in-store purchase first (like a pack of gum, or something) and then go to the WM MC/CS and load to Discover there. If I try say, $1.50 or something on Amazon --lock. Anything online at first--lock. So far I've only seen the 409758 bins as well.

I have considerably more issues with Pathwards than Suttons, although two Suttons recently locked up on me, so are in the process of being replaced.

Out of the game for about 2 months and just tried loading 5 min ago.

I think that most of the DPs now indicate that if your first swipe fails, immediately doing another will also fail and most of the time get the card locked, requiring contacting CS for either unlocking or replacement cards.
I have found the if a second swipe fails, as it almost always does, waiting 24 hours seems to unlock it, although there are DPs to the contrary on this as well. ;)

I had 4 cards total and all 4 failed. I'll call CS later today.

Does it say the card locks anywhere online? I entered each of them but they look fine.

Update: called CS and they were able to identify the cards as problematic as long as they failed a swipe. I tried a virgin card and they said can't issue a replacement as there's no issue.

Are there fees these days to load Discover Checking?
