This is a new thread for 2018. The previous discussion can be found here.

As of Nov 11, 2020, Meta gebits are getting declined when used for MO/BP purchases at MC/SD. New limit appears to be $99 per swipe. READ the posts below and add a data point with details. USB and GD gift cards do not seem to be affected.

DETAILS:
As of Dec 2019, WM BP in-store is reportedly affected by the $8000 total limit across all cards.
As of Nov 1, 2018, WM Billpay made via the WM app is limited to a total of $8000 total per person to all accounts per rolling 30 days.

Sep 13 2021 : If WM App is updated with no money services , then use the following for Android phone to get the working version.

https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type...ge=1&s=walmart
My working version is 21.12 (21120123)
Fyr : https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/0...n-app-android/

This workaround no longer works.

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register. BP must be done at Customer Service/Returns or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction. ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
CheckFreePay (800) 676-6148. - Look up payments using CC number and time of transaction
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BP by phone number lookup- Once your CFP account is set up, you can add CC. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services. Make sure you get 2 receipts, one from WM and a small one from CFP showing the CC# and Biller name you paid.

WM App - The Money Services works in express lane for Bill Pay.

Receipt tips: If you don't get a receipt and they have to print you one, make sure the CC you paid appears on the printed receipt. If not on receipt, call CFP with the manager to verify there is no payment processing. They can cancel any transactions and pay you in cash right away. If they cancel the transaction and their cash drawer opens, that means they should pay you in cash, if it doesn't open, the money will probably return to your cards. Not sure what happens on the same day? Watch their drawer when they cancel the transaction to see if it opens. If they say the money will return to your DC, make sure to write down the managers name in case it doesn't.

Payments:
Most cc can be paid 5 times by Visa/MC and 5 times by the issuing bank in rolling 30 days with a total of 10. There might be an 8K limit per rolling 30 days starting Oct 2018.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST (Holidays change post day)

Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Choose to pay by Visa/MC card issuer OR by issuing bank - see the 2 sections below.

:-:VISA and MC - card issuer-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:

Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.

The other day I went to Walmart and tried to pay my Amex card. I created it in the app and scanned it at the register. Everything went through. I paid $1400 in cash and $1000 on debit. Just as everything processed the screen said cancelled or rejected or something and the drawer opened and said to refund the money. This was confirmed by a manager. Having previously had payments not work with the app I asked the cashier to try manually with my phone number. In the past this has had better success. She just kept the cash (I actually needed to pay this bill). Same thing happened, it was rejected at the end. She then paid me $2400 in cash.

Last night I check my account and 2 $2400 payments were posted to it. That's fine I needed to pay it. But how do I resolve this? There is no phone number on MoneyGram's website. I guess I'll go back to the Walmart and say hey if your register was short let me know.

WM bill pay is becoming so unreliable. I never know if something is going to go through or what's going on.

1) Create a bill pay in Walmart App
2) Use Cash and Debit
3) ???
4) Profit?!

Did you check to see that the debit card was drained?

Yes, just go back to WM and ask if the drawer was short. I've had that happen several times. Twice I realized what was going on before leaving the store and fixed is then, the third time I didn't know until I got home and went back the next day to give them the money. I don't think it was ever in the scenario you described though. It was generally where they pressed something on their side indicating that I had given them cash that I didn't give them, so my card wasn't drained. Times I've gotten cash back, the bill hasn't been paid and the card was drained.

For BP staged on cell phone app, do CSR still ask for ID? Especially for money gram amex which always require id (even for saved/already paid amex cards) when doing directly at the store. How about for cfp bill pay setup via mobile?

Just trying to find if P1 can setup bill pay on cell phone and if P2 can go in and pay with the same cell phone

IME they usually don't ask for ID except the first time when you set up a new account on the mobile app.

YMMV depending on the store and cashier on this, based on my experience. One store never asks for ID on CFP BPs by app. The other store that I go to at least two cashiers always ask for IDs to make sure the names match before proceeding. Other cashiers at the same store do not. A third store that I sometimes go is the same, some cashiers do, some don't.

I understand its YMMV on CSR. Does the system
need it? Specifically for first BP ever at walmart on SO’s name and to amex (money gram).

I don't think the system "needs it", but I think it prompts the CSR to validate your ID the first time. After the first time I don't think the system prompts for them to check ID but they might still do so at their discretion (it happens to me very rarely).

Same experience for me. I only do CFP and I haven't been asked for my ID in months even at out of state WMs that I rarely visit.

Anyone knows what to do when the screen is stuck at “order is being processed” for the cashier? This is for mobile express pay after scanning the qr code on the swipe machine

IME the best thing to do is have them abort the transaction and try it again at another terminal. Other than that they can abort, log out of the terminal, reset, and then log in and try again.

Did all that and nothing worked. Tried 3 different terminals. Log out, log in Still same result. Stuck on “order is being processed” message on their side. We even waited like solid 3-4 mins to if that help. Nothing

Need some advice from you guys here.
I paid $2400 using walmart bill pay to my Avianca Vida Visa card for the first time on Nov 18th. I used Visa as billpayee. No need to panic yet obviously as its only Nov 21 morning and I was expecting it to post on Nov 20th. Its always posted in 2 business days so a little surprised.

But if the payment does not post be end of business day today, will be freaking out. My questions.

1) Is there any possibility that Banco Popular Puerto Rico does not accept these sort of payment but since I paid it to Visa, it went through and the money is just out there?
2) I do have the receipt. Should I take it to walmart and ask to contact Checkfree?
3) Is there any number to call Checkfree?

I BP that card several times already....it takes additional one day to post than other credit cards like citi cards.
