I still think it is YMMV. I purchased a OVGC Saturday with credit. At first the clerk said cash/debit only, but I politely asked, "Are you sure? Last time I was able to". She pulled out a piece of paper and said, "Well, since this isn't a reloadable card, maybe you can. Let's try it". Of course it went through.

I think sometimes they may get them confused.

RA Cashiers are notorious for making stuff up on the spot.

Second time at the same Rite store for loading 2500 SGCs. I loaded 4 without a problem but the 5th would not load. I tried 3 times.

I am hoping it is a hiccup at Rite Aid. i checked the balance of 5th card and $500 is still there.

Lots of RA locations have been out of stock of VGC ever since their last Plenti points promo. I'm surprised how long it's taking for the vendor to restock. RA is losing money from potential sales due to low inventory. I always buy other things along with buying VGCs there, but lately don't visit and end up buying drugstore items elsewhere. When they finally restock, I'll bring my regular drugstore business back to them.

Has anyone recently been able to load Serve at Rite Aid with VGCs? I tried at two different stores and two different VGCs in the past three days in west Los Angeles and the loads won’t go through. I am able to input the pin after swiping the VGC but the system goes back and asks me to swipe the method of payment.

I have loaded 1x $500 VGC at the RA next to my office each of the past 3 days. I have not had any issues or problems. (Not counting today when the cashier accidentally entered $5.00 instead of $500.00...) Business as usually here.

I just loaded two $300 staples VGC at a rite aid in LA.

VGCs from where? The CVS One Vanila's have stopped loading. Sorry, should have been more clear before.

Since when? I loaded 2 of them yesterday.

Since Monday. I tried Rite Aid near UCLA and one in Culver City.

Must be store-specific. I'm in the eastern part of LA and I loaded them fine on Wednesday.

The 3x $500 VGC I loaded at my RA this week were all OV from CVS...

RiteAid register freeze when loading Target $400 VGC on Serve
 

I tried to unload a $400 Target VGC at RiteAid on my Serve card yesterday.
After entering the PIN (since these cards have the PIN setup at first use) and declining cashback, the payment terminal froze on "Waiting for Payment..."

The manager had to come to fix it.

To keep a low profile, I did a second try loading $400 of a Visa Buxx card and this one worked flawless, on the same register.

Then, I tried my Target card in another store for a Debit purchase (same PIN as before) and this worked too.

Any idea what happened here? Is it possible that the Target VGC don't work with RiteAid when a PIN is not set? I'll still have money on that card and will attempt another load in the next day or so to see if it will work this time.

Seems to be a west LA problem -- and maybe only a few specific stores. I loaded outside of LA over the weekend without issues.
