Just to add another data point to the mix here...

This past Saturday (12/5), I went to two Simon Malls. Fashion Centre in Arlington, VA (my normal location) and Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, VA.

Fashion Centre was applying the $3k limit for chip cards, which is really $2500 because it has to be under $3k AFTER fees and we all buy in multiples of $500. However, that location is actually shocked when I only use one card (most people there use multiples?). So, he said the limit was 1 transaction/day (as was previous), but he could do multiple chip cards for up to $3k each up to the normal $10k limit.

I only MS on one card, so the multiple card thing for me was a no go and I just bought $2500.

But, that was not enough for me, so I decided to drag myself 25 miles further down the road (which is not much for folks in other parts of the country, but is a journey for city folk) to Potomac Mills Mall. At that location, the normal $10k limit still applied. There was no conversation about the chip. I bought $9k.

NEITHER LOCATION WAS USING THE CHIP READERS

It can't be a secret if it's written all over these pages.

This can be complex stuff with a lot of gotchas that could be very painful financially -- read through the threads or screw yourself over. Your choice.

My Simon would only let me use one chip card for split payment tonight. But it was a new one with a bonus and now I've completed the spend, so I'm happy.

Slightly off topic...
GRR - three major malls near me. None simon. All offer AMEX GCs at very reasonable fees. Dammit. The Simon Mall requires a 45m drive. Suppose that's the cost of doing business.

I'm in the same boat. Closest Simon is an hour away.

My closest Simon is about a 6 hour flight . Price you pay for living on Maui. I try to stock up whenever I get off the rock.

Isn't there one on Oahu? I stopped by when I was there, but I was about 15 minutes too late for the mall office...

Gosh. That sucks for you guys. Closet Simon to me is 5 mins away and the majority of that time is walking to my car and from my car.

Chip reader was working at my SM, but no more AP. It shows the contactless payment logo and MC logo. They are going to check on why AP isn't working. So AP appears to be in flux

why would you want those anyway
Wife and I drive 45m to our closest SM, but we each get 9.5k there and hit a few WM's for a 40k day...so worth the 4 hours or so
