Ralph's - in So Cal they sell $500 variable load cards

Stater Bros
Walgreen: Vanilla

Improvements and additions welcome.
Note: this thread began as an attempt to find out if a Kroger store in the area where jan_believes was travelling might have the variable $500 Visa GC since the store where I was at the time, did not. It has morphed into a discussion about MOs (at Kroger, although other stores MAY be included but not mentioned), as well. Not the intent of the discussion. Use discretion, please. Local rules apply.

I had no trouble buying 3x$500 Walmart GD cards for Freedom 4Q... inserted chip for the transaction. Chase initially declined it but I cleared the fraud alert via text and it went through on second try.
I've also had that error message about cash/debit only when trying to buy OneVanilla's at WM.

Has anyone figured out exactly how the volume limits work at 7-11? Most I have done in recent memory is 5x $500 OV cards, split up into 3 transactions (max of two $500 cards per transaction - I tried 3 in one go once and it declined).
The register will just decline the transaction automatically if you surpass whatever the volume limit is, without even attempting to authorize the transaction with your CC company. I thought this might be related to the CC card number, but I tried doing more than 5x500 in one trip (using a different CC) and the register auto-declined subsequent transactions, so I guess it doesn't matter what card is used, the registers will only activate a certain number (possibly $2500?) in a given time window.

Yea, they work just like Metabank GC's. The last 4 digits of the card is the pin. I like these more as they are a dollar cheaper than Metabank and Sunrise cards. I bought 3 $500 in store for freedom Q4. The transaction went through without a hitch.

Did you do 3 transactions in series or you waited for a while and then tried again? I do believe there is limit per store per day or something like that, on few occasions, the purchase was declined, I thought the CC company declined the purchase but my CC was active and it wasn't blocked for fraud etc.
Couple of recent data points:
Different stores, same CC: made 2x 2x500 + 1x 500 successfully last night ($2500 total). Using the same card, was able to make another 3-transaction purchase of $2500 total about 40 minutes later at a different 711.
Same store, different CCs: Was able to do 2x 2x500 transactions ($2k total) in the morning using one CC, and identical transactions (another $2k) about 5 hours later at the same store using a different CC.
