Another reason is that the AAA employees are sometimes rude when we are trying to buy GCs. Maybe you haven't run into the rude employees.

It seems many at AAA wanted to work at the DMV but were not qualified.

All 4 of these AAA visa GCs were bought at the same time.

Could be there were some issues in the system today. This has happened in the past with various cards and they magically started working again at a later day/time. Usually there are multiple reports but given the time of year and month I don't suppose that many folks are MS'ing today (or at least loading Serve). The other possibility is Metabank locked your cards (they have done that before). Personally I'd try again tomorrow. I really don't think the registration of the card makes a bit a difference for card present debit transactions.

No-fee $500 Visa gift cards for AAA Midatlantic

I am in the Northeast, so this promo doesn't benefit me at all, but I assume there are others who can benefit!

AAA Visa gift card $10-500 with no purchase fee

Great, I was wondering if this was on. You saved me some research :)

You might want to check your local office anyway. I know in Scarsdale, NY they've honored this promotion in the past, but Stamford, CT does not.

Bought a couple today at my local AAA office. Now trying to figure out how to unload to Redbird. Tried online- not successful, even after registering the card. Will go to Target tomorrow or Monday to try there. I am concerned that the card doesn't have a PIN, unless it's the last four digits of the card number.

in California, the website says " Visa Gift Cards are available for purchase online. When ordering online, you will leave the Auto Club website and be redirected to MetaBank’s website. Visa Gift Cards are not available at AAA branches." has anyone seen them in any of the CA AAA locations ?

Gift cards unloaded to my Redbird card, at Target. No problems.

I bought 10 of them the last time and they would not sell me any more, wonder if anyone has been able to buy them again after being black listed.

Do you know for sure you were blacklisted? In NoVA they have a limit on the # you can buy - I think it is $2,500. If you try to purchase after the reaching the limit, they'll tell you you can't buy anymore; doesn't mean you're blacklisted though.

i've been 'blacklisted' before. When I did it with the no fee promo, the limit for NYC was $10,000 in a 30 day span. I did not know there was a limit and bought a total of $10,500 ($500 visas each) from probably 5 different visits. Tried to buy more and the lady processing the gc could not complete the sale and did not know why. She actually called the controller for that region and asked why. The controller said I was temporarily blocked because I went over the $10,000 limit and that I can buy more in 30 days. It was quite an awkward conversation to have...

I went to the AAA in Tysons today, and they told me the limit was $1000. I didn't press her to see if that was per day or lifetime. I bought 2x $500and will go back tomorrow and try again. I'll unload them tonight and see how long this can go on for...

Update from today: I went back to buy more gift cards, she saw that I had bought $1000 yesterday, and told me that the limit was "per season"... I don't know if that is just her limit, this store, or AAA policy this time around. Anyone else able to buy more than $1000 during this promotion?

It must be per AAA office management discretion because I was told limit was $5000. Will check on this after shopping at OD today.

Are you in NoVA? Last fall they limited $1k per household, too.

Scarsdale, NY has a limit of $10k per day.

I'm in NoVA. Do you know if the limit was set per store or the whole region? I went to the office in Tysons to get my first $1k; I wonder if the Fairfax office would have a different limit... Maybe I'll go up to Maryland this weekend and see if they let me buy any more.
