That means you are a blacklisted. That is exactly what happened to me. In my case the very nice AAA lady said she got a call from Metabank saying my activities were fraudulent. She said she told them she didn't believe it because I had been going there for years (not for gift cards). As for the duration of the blacklist who knows. There is a note in my AAA record basically not to sell me prepaid products or similar. Sounds like you have the same thing.
Thanks for the confirmation. ^ |
I am not blacklisted and I was told the limit is 1k. That's it. I went to a Midatlantic branch yesterday. I belong to another AAA but had no problem with the No Fee. I asked why is it only 1k as last year I purchased 5k. I was told too many people bought too many cards last year and AAA lost money so they imposed limits for everybody.

Blacklisted for buying exactly two $500 gift cards seems a bit harsh but oh well, I'll just have to figure out another way to purchase gift cards with no fee or at least a very, very small fee.
Thanks for the confirmation. ^ |
I bought last year for 1.5K, promotion has ended, I didn't know, they made me stand two lines fill lots of paperwork and at the end they said that promotion ended few days ago, it wasn't posted in this tread so I didn't know and paid the fees.
It's nice to hear about nice AAA employees. In the NYC Columbus circle office everybody was extra rude. Thought they get bonuses for that The question is without going, is there a way to learn if I got blacklisted by Meta? Its ridiculous, if they gonna blacklist for 1K let them write it somewhere so ppl wont buy more than 1K |
I've posted on this thread ages ago, but my blacklist seems to have been reduced. Background: I bought $8k in 3 weeks or so in late 2013 in NoVa. In subsequent attempts since then they would not sell to me, or my wife (she bought $100), period.
So last week I went in to try again. I asked for one $75 card as a test. Apparently there were notes in my "record" about my previous transactions, and the first rep I spoke to couldn't process the transaction - said he needed manager approval/override. The manager came out and approved the transaction. Both he and the rep thought it was weird since my previous transactions were two years ago (really 18 months). The manager mentioned that the issuer controls these tightly, but two years seemed silly. So, I am alive but it does not look promising. FWIW I'm going to use the $75 card for regular spend and see if I can clear my good name ;). |
Well, it looks like I'll be on the honorable list soon based on the blacklist reports. Did one $2k and then $3k the next day. Will try again next month.

This is a limit - not a blacklist. They had a limit of $1k in Nov/Dec, too. Just b/c they're "flagging" a account, doesn't mean that person has been blacklisted. It just means they pulled up your account and you've reached your promo limit.
But maybe if people think they're blacklisted they'll stop buying, which means more cards for the rest of us! :D |

Ran into issues with those cards today. I already set the pin and was using the correct one but received "incorrect" pin issue. I called to reset the pin again but still didn't work. Tried both at Kate and cashier.
Just wondering if anyone had the same issue. |
Has anyone in the Boston area been able to get them recently?

I went to the AAA branch here in Nashville. Unfortunately they sell no Visa gift cards there.

I purchased 2 $500 VGC online for the first time ever through AAA (I was actually looking at options for currency conversion when I stumbled upon the option). I bought the cards and activated them yesterday. Unfortunately, AAA sent me unloaded cards - balance of $0 on each even though they charged me the $1000. Now when I call the back of the card, they refer me to AAA. But when I call AAA's number, it makes me enter the 16 digit number before speaking to a human and I can't get past it because the system doesn't recognize the cards? I really don't want to trudge to a branch. Any options?
